New here....getting ready for the summer

Hi all,

I am new to the site and have gotten great feedback already.....

Basically im between 5'4 and 5'5 and weigh (i think) around 134 pounds. I rarely weigh myself, especially when this is the most i have ever weighed. My goal is to get back to 125 pounds and to tone up my body.

I usually try to eat pretty healthy but lately ive gotten into bad habits - i did south beach diet for a bit last year and that worked for me, so now i'm trying to do a modified version of South Beach.

So far today -
Breakfast: 1egg + 1/3 Cup Egg Beaters, 1 piece FF cheese
1 piece turkey bacon

Snack - 1 small yellow pepper, 1oz. lf munster cheese

lunch/snack - about 1 Cup leftover salad: (very small): 2 pieces broccoli, tuna, kidney beans, some mixed greens.

snack - 1 protein bar (170 calories, 5g fiber, 6g fat, 7g sugar)
1/3 cup. plain non fat yogurt w/one tbs. light n-fit blackberry yogurt.

no dinner yet but im having large salad with grilled chicken, maybe sf popsicle for dessert

exercise - gym after work from 6-715: 50 Min. Treadmill, 20 minute weight/toning.

I rarely eat protein bars anymore but i didn't have much of lunch, the salad was only about two bites, and i had no time to buy anything else.
 
Day two...

Im a bit sore this morning, probably from doing some weights on Monday (after two weeks of skipping the gym, bad!)

My diet so far:
Breakfast: 1 egg, 1/3 cup egg beaters w/one slice ff cheese melted
2 pieces turkey bacon
1 c. coffee w/skim milk and splenda

Snack: 8 pieces celer w 1 1/2 tbs. Hummus

For Lunch im having a leftover salad w/Arugula, portabella mushrooms, tomatoes, a little avocado, a few pieces of turkey pepparoni, cucumbers, and about 2 oz. chicken. Dressing will be olive oil and balsamic (i usually put alot of balsam and not too much olive oil

pre-gym snack will prob. be a bit of plain yogurt w/1 tb. fit-n-fiber yogurt mixed in.

Dinner should be WW pasta w/tomato sauce and soy crumbles mixed in - tastes just like meat sauce!!!

Gym tonight is a kickboxing class which always gives me a sick workout.
 
day three...ahh!

I drank too much wine w/dinner last night, which always throws off my diet the next day. I haven't had breakfast yet (just 1 C. Coffee) because my boyfriend's apartment (where I stayed last night) has no food whatsoever. I think i'll get three egg whites on wheat toast and a piece of cheese. Not really on my diet plan (I usually have no bread in the morning) but I think the egg sandwhich will probably fill me up enough and keep me from snacking during the day. usually after a night of too much drinking i heavily overeat the next day - its such a bad pattern and im trying to stop (both the drinking too much and the eating crappy after).
 
Hey JLH!

Looks good so far! I don't drink (rarely) but my weakness is coffee and sweets. When I eat ice cream or have a latte before bed, I am ill and hungry the next morning. Once I start down the path of eating badly in the morning, it's hard to correct.

How was Kickboxing?

kickboxing was great, thanks! The class is only 45 minutes but is really intense cardio for the whole time - im going to try to go every week.

i ended up being a bit healthier for breakfast - i bought some 1% Cottage cheese and added plain ff yogurt, a handful of peanuts, and 1 tb. of fit-n-fiber yogurt. A weird combination, but it tasted pretty good. And i don't feel as guilty as I would have.

I used to crave sweet stuff all the time at night and would ice cream for dessert almost every night, ive broken the pattern but crave carb stuff like this amazing Kashi Go Lean crackers, which i love and can't keep in the house cuz i eat them too fast :)
 
Ok, so for dinner last night i wasn't in the mood for anything special - i made eggbeaters w/ a piece of ff cheese and had one morningstar veggie sausage. i ate it with a piece of multi-grain bread, and had a no sugar added fudgsicle for dessert (and my dad was eating choc. chip cookies, so i had one, ugh).

breakfast today was natural pb on one piece of multigrain toast. lunch will prob. be a nice salad...snack on hummus and celery....then i'm off to a friends house for the weekend - im going to try and not go too crazy.

Also - i really like these smoothies from a place by my work - they contail soy milk, blueberries, banana, and agave nectar. I haven't had one in ages cuz i figured they're not good for me - am i right?

What a crazy, crazy weekend I had. A bunch of friends went away together for the weekend - a great time, but I want another day off!

Anyway, back to work and to eating relatively ok. i haven't had breakfast yet but will probalby get a smoothie - i need some fresh fruits and nutrients in my system!

Took the day off exercise yesterday to recup from the weekend. Lunch was 12 pieces California roll, dinner was egg beaters on a WW pita w/a morninstar sausage pattie (vegatarian) and a no sugar added fudgsicle. Definitely not enough veggies, so today ill have a big salad for lunch and veggies w/my dinner.

Breakfast was 1 C ff plain dannon yogurt w/2 tbs. light-n-fit blackberry yogurt blended in. Also 1 tsp. of hummus with some celery sticks.

I had therapy this mornign (i go every other week - my mom passed away in December and she was my best friend, so its been hard).....i had such a great session talking about needing to lay off the alcohol some more and how much better i feel emotionally when i am healthy and exercise. i know i drink sometimes to feel numb but it ends up making me feel worse in the end. Definitely going to bring healthey eating and exercise into the weekends.

Hey - Sorry about your mom. Glad you're allowing yourself to grieve! Your diary looks great! It's nice to be flexible when friends are around. It sure tempts me to go off my food lifestyle!

Hi all,

SO this weekend was a breakthrough for me - I actuallymanaged to go work out on Friday evening and on Saturday. I haven't execercised on the weekend in forever. it definitey is easier to start the work week and gym schedule without feeling like ive lost ground over the weekend. plus my boyfriend joined my gym on Friday! He trains in Martial Arts and is very fit but i really wanted him to join so we good inspire each other to excercise when we see each other on the weekends. It was so nice being able to exercise with him.

Today im probaby to go to the total body conditioning class at the gym (its a weight class) and do some cardio. Breakfast was egg beaters w/ff cheese, Lunch is leftover salad w/grilled chix (part of last nights dinner), not too sure about dinner yet.
 
Congrats on finding the joy in weekend workouts:) ! I'm sad that my gym is closed on the weekends during the summer, because though no one feels like putting in the hours at the gym on a Saturday morning, boy do you feel good about it Saturday night!
