Hi everyone, i've been looking at the site for about a month now and i have a question so i figured i'd post here =) not sure if this is in the right place or not but here it goes..

Back in november i started loseing weight, started at 310 and now i'm down to 278 and i'm pretty excited about it. i been eating about 2200-2400 cals a day and working out 3 days a week, Weights and cardio. and now i'm at a point where i need to go out of town for a month for work. I still plan on going for a run 3-4 days a week but probley wont be doing much weights. my question is if i stick to my diet and do my running will i lose any Muscle? i dont have alot and i'd like to keep what i have lol. i dont know how long it will be till i start lifting again. will i be fine if i eat enouf proten? and if so how much?

also i have another question this is kinda off topic for where i posted this but here we go. thoes of you who have hit a plateau befor how often does it useally happen and how long befor you break it? i was just wondering i havent hit one yet but i'm sure i will sooner or later..

Thanks to any help and info :)

I've been on a diet for a little over a year and have hit plateaus about 3 or 4 times that are worth mentioning. The second one was a nasty one. My weight stayed the same from the middle of June to the middle of July. I don't do anything different when I hit a plateau. Eventually they break.

What height are you? Depending on your body fat % you may not have to worry as much about muscle loss. However, it would still be a good idea to try to do some body weight exercises. Squats, lunges, push-ups (or wall push-ups) etc. just to let the muscle know it's needed. Running won't do much to help maintain your muscle, although it will help burn calories.

Protein wise you should shoot for 1g per lb of lean body mass. So if you're at 40% Body fat (BF) ( making it up) then you'd want to get around 165-170g of protein a day. less if you're at higher BF, more if you're at lower.
