Sport New Gatorade Series

Sport Fitness
I have just started seeing some ads for Gatorades new "G-Series" and have looked at it a bit. It's their 3 part system of Prime,Perform, and Recover. I was curious what you guys thought about it or if anyone has tryed it yet. I know that Gatorade is kind of notorious for having high sugar and high fructose corn syrup which is a no no. I'm most curious though about the "Prime" and "Recover" Products. I use other mixtures during exercise. I run and bike alot so I'm curious if this will help or mostly hurt.

I think the G series is really meant for competition. I don't necessarily think it could "hurt," though it is a huge influx of calories, so you could very well see some weight gain if you're not working hard enough to merit its use. If you're not really working at a high (and typically competitive) level, I don't see the need for all of that.

Making use of the new G series is fairly pricy as well. You could get a lot more bang for your buck making use of Kool-aid, salt pills and water or kool-aid, and chocolate milk or protein shakes (pre, during, and post). If might not look as fly... but what does that matter.

I know some upper level hockey players that swear by normal H2O during games.

My biggest beef with the G series is the marketing. It's all a lot of catchy nonsense with little substance to back it up. I mean, how many athletes out there are really working as hard as they do at the professional level? It's probably a very small percentage, and it's likely that a lot of athletes (particularly youth) probably don't really need all that stuff...

They do have a G series as well as a G series "Pro" which they seem pretty significant in their differences. But I do see what you mean they seem rather minute. However I like the idea of a protien recovery drink that is loaded with electrolytes which is ideal for high intensity cardio bouts as opposed to weight training. I don't drink gatoriade though it is too high in calories an sugar.

the new G2 gatorade is relatively low in calories but i subscribe to the the "only zero calorie beverage" theory.

Stick to water, black coffee, tea etc. If you have cramping issues put a bit more sodium on your food. Most people get too much sodium as it is...

I agree with one comment here - stick with water. Water is the safest source for answering thirstiness. A cold water can surely a good companion for an extensive workout.
