New Creatine Questions

I just got my container of Now Sports Creatine Monohydrate in the mail. I appreciate all of your answers to my previous questions, but before I jump into this I have a few new questions:

1. I have three weddings in the next four weeks, I know I will be drinking alcohol at these weddings, how will that affect the creatine? Is it safe?

2. I will be in a wedding on March 14th, if i do seem to get too bloated from the creatine, how many days off of the creatine does it take to lose that extra water? (I am the best man, i look really good now, but my ex $#&!$ wife will be there and i want to look great, not bloated)

I thank you for all of your answers, research articles, links, and personal experiences.

I haven't researched creatine and alcohol, but I'm pretty sure if there was a threat it would be posted all over the place. If you go to and try to search for something like "creatine monohydrate + alcohol" I'm sure you'll find something on it.

I think how long it takes for the bloating to go away depends on the individual. If I were you, I'd just start the creatine and see if you get bloated, if you do, you need to start thinking about when to go off it, if you don't, well, then you don't need to sweat it. If you don't figure out when you need to get off, then just do it in good time.

Why is it required for you to drink alcohol? Is their some hidden policeman within the wedding, ready to handcuff you and bring you to jail if you do not? ;) :)

You remember and read my posts in your other creatine thread right? Okay. With this in mind, "excessive" alcohol consumption (takes water out of the body) and dehydrates you--which is "one" (among many) reasons people feel like utter crap the next day, calling it the hang over.

Creatine Mono "requires" adequate water consumption to function potentially optimally.

See the problem?

Excessive Alcohol: Water pushed Out/dehydration; Creatine Mono: Water required IN/hydration. These are at odds, which creates a suboptimal environment.

You know what just may fix this problem? Taking Creatine Ethyl Ester, which due to the chemical makeup, doesn't have the hydration requirements of Mono. You have 4 weeks. I would return the Mono in favor of Ethyl Ester.

Leckbass, if being bloated, etc, etc, was a concern during this period you should have chosen Creatine Ethyl Ester. Right now, you wouldn't be having this problem if you had. If I were you, since you have some time, I would return the Mono for Ethyl Ester, and call it a day, and your problem is solved. No more bloat to be concerned with. Even if it costs a few more bucks.

You can't convert everyone to being a non-drinker, Chillen. Maybe he enjoys the taste? Maybe he wants to drink for his own reasons. Anyway, I doubt one day of alcohol is gonna make a huge difference. besides, you can just drink plenty of water along with the alcohol, I usually do.

Thanks for creating your own context of interpretation of what I wrote. I do not try to convert anyone. Besides, I was joking. Did you see the smilies, and wink?

In addition, I stated suboptimal, which is quiet a contrast to: huge difference.

Oh.....that's better. ;)

Best wishes,

you always have smilies all over the place, so it's impossible to know your feelings behind your post. The smilies can also be seen as you're indicating that he is just drinking out of social pressure or just pure mocking, and that that is why all drinking occurs. I didn't read the smilies as joking, I read them more as satire.

I'm just saying, every time someone asks a question about alcohol you start asking why they are drinking, it's getting repetitive. Some people drink, some people don't. simple as that.

Okay...point taken as is and left as is..., Karks......:action11:

But, I remain the same, anyway.

Best regards to you.

mmmmmm.... (?!)

Quoted from your article:

This study has been met with skepticism. Alcohol is widely known to be a diuretic, which increases urine output and can in and of itself lead to dehydration. Because beer contains alcohol, consuming beer after a strenuous workout may seem like a bad idea.

Besides, this is a Mickey Mouse small research, which means literally nothing in real context. :) In addition, what I have underlined, will hold up to scrutiny.

Been a while, Fit4life1976, how ya been brotha! :):):)

Must use those smilies.....:):):)

Best wishes,

Chillen

Lol, i know it's been a while but i'm too busy right now and it's killing me. Sometimes i log in, i check the answers to some questions that interest me, and most of the times i'm covered by them so i don't respond, which is very good IMO. There are a lot of people in here who know their stuff.

Now, about the article, i found it very interesting to tell you the truth, i wish i had thought of that before i did my thesis on Genetics. Sounds like some people had a lot of fun. The key to this one is the ONE PINT only immediately after workout, and they were also allowed to drink as much water as they wanted as well. And at 4% alcohol, it sounds delicious lol.

Ok, now for you leckbass, either change to Ethyl Ester like Chillen suggested, or stop 2 weeks before the wedding your ex wife is attending. Or go to her house when she's sleeping the night before and mess with her alarm clock.

Unfortunately I work out at 5:30 AM...a pint after that would make for a looooooooooooooooong work day.

The reason i decided to choose the mono was because in all the research i read, people talk about a "pump" that you get while taking the mono. I want that effect too.

Since there probably wont be a noticable benefit to just going on the mono for 2 weeks. I'll continue my routein as it is right now and wait till after the wedding to start the creatine.

As for the drinking, there is always a time and a place, and a limit. I enjoy a few beers on the weekend, i'll take the good with the bad.

Thanks

Best wishes for your continued success!

The wedding is a long long story, but the short short version is: my best friend (i'm best man) and my ex ______'s good friend (who is also a good friend of mine). We both have to be there, and we dont get along well. Luckly she isnt going to the reception :)

creatine

I would like to put my 2 cents in for your questions/concerns regarding your creatine. First, you are wasting your money by purchasing creatine monohydrate. All research has proven that plain monohydrate causes bloating, gastrial discomfort and is only 10-30% absorbed into your system and muscles. The reason is that monohydrate is abosrbed through your stomach. What you need to take is any type of Creatine Ethyl Ester, tri-Creatine malate, or better yet, Creatine magnesium Chelate--all 3 in one product is best, it is available. Any of the above [MUST BE POWDER no pills or gells] products are 100% absorbed through your small intestines as opposed to your stomach trying to digest it causing your bloating and discomfort. Also, with these products there is no need for a loading period, bloating or the need to discontinue taking the creatine after a few months. As for the alcohol, there is no known study that has found any adverse effects with the use of creatine. Also BEWARE. use a product with NO fillers such as magnesium stuarates. Research what that is and you will be shocked!!
