Hello everyone! Just joined this forum and thought I'd do a quick introduction.

I'm a 22 year old female and am working on losing some weight. I'm hoping to be down 70 lbs by June/July and to achieve this, I plan to start new, healthy habits to do with exercise and healthy foods.
To other people in general, I apparently look like I'm 150 lbs. However, I'm actually 220 lbs roughly and my goal is to get to 150 for real. My weight is distributed evenly through my body which is why I look slimmer than I am.

I also work with horse so that's also a motivator for me lose weight and get in better shape, along with just looking and feeling better.

So I joined this forum in the hopes of learning some good tips as well as a way to help myself be accountable and keep working on these goals.

Thanks for reading and hope you all have a great day/night :)

Hi, Ann & welcome to the forum. Like you, I weigh a lot more than anyone ever thinks & want to get back down to where they think I am. The diary section of the forum is the most active & it would be a good place to keep track of your progress & get support. You'll find the diaries at https://weight-loss.fitness.com/forums/weight-loss-diary.9/ You'll find some lovely people there.
What do you think you'll do to lose weight? Are you going to follow a particular plan, count calories, cut down portion sizes....? Try to come up with something that will be sustainable forever & that suits you. We all follow different tracks (it seems to be a theme at the moment) but are all headed in the same direction & have more in common it seems with one another than we have differences. I hope you like it here & gain some useful tips.

Hello, Ann. :) Welcome to the WLF site! There's absolutely stacks of tips and very good information, and also great discussion about what different things work for different people.
As Cate said, the trick is to find
something that will be sustainable forever & that suits you.
I look forward to reading how things go for you, and exchanging ideas and experiences. :)

Thanks guys :) I do plan to start a diary sometime soon and explain more there as to what my plans are. I'm hoping by doing this, I'll be a bit more accountable and keep going with what I've started lol. I'll for sure check out the other areas for tips and advice. I'm rather excited to have found this forum and can't wait to see how things go here.

Welcome Ann!

Losing 70 lbs in 6 months is a pretty aggressive goal, but for someone your age may be possible. I think you should at least consider taking a little longer, but getting started and seeing how it goes may be best.

That is fortunate for you, but I see losing weight as more a health issue than for appearance. You are smart to be losing the weight. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but you can't fool your health.

I will look for your diary, and am anxious to follow your progress.

I actually have a slightly higher than average metabolism (found out about it from a blood test) which is why I tend to lose weight faster than other people, which is why I sort of set that goal. But I'm more going for fitness, than weight so that I don't become too obsessed with losing as much weight as possible as soon as possible. (as example, when my family did workouts to lose weight and all were heavier than me, while they lost 1 - 2 lbs a week, I lost 5 lbs and I was doing exactly the same stuff as them and this is applied to other times when i did weight lose with another person who was in better shape. She lost 10 lbs that month, and I lost 18-20 lbs)

And I totally agree. Health is one of the biggest reasons for me pursuing this. I'm on the verge of being pre-diabetic and I'd prefer not to cross that line so I'm hoping to start reversing that now :) And I've started my journal/diary, but it's pending approval so it should be up soon :)
