Good afternoon everyone,

My name is Jennifer. I wanted to join WLF in hopes of finding people like me who have lost significant weight yet gained most if not all of it back. I have a bit of a different circumstance as I had the LapBand procedure done 5-6yrs ago, yet my surgeon did not place the band correctly and the aftercare was horrible. I was sick from day one and over a years time was strictly on liquids for about 9mo. > long story short... surgeon "retired" and I had emergency surgery as the band tore my stomach and cut off my lower GI causing extreme medical issues. I also endured vagus nerve damage from the surgery and have a bugger of a time eating or losing weight.

I lost about 75lbs. (mostly due to starving) and have gained it all back within the years after my band removal. I have hit the highest weight ever and am beyond ashamed of myself for allowing my body to get where it is now. I hope to find inspiration within this community and look forward to meeting others!

Thanks for reading :)
Jen.

Hi, Jen & welcome to the forum. I am so sorry that you have had to go through all this. Are you able to see a nutritionist? Following a healthy diet, but under supervision is, in my opinion, the best way to go with weight-loss. There is no easy way to lose weight & there are a squillion "diets" out there & charlatans happy to take your money. Doing it the healthy way, even if it is slow, will be the best way to go. Sustaining weight-loss is much easier if it has come off slowly as well.
The diary section of the forum is quite active. Have a look about & start a diary if you feel like it. There are some lovely, supportive people over there. You will find it at https://weight-loss.fitness.com/forums/weight-loss-diary.9/

i had a bit of a revelation after listening to some lectures by Dr Jason Fung (Google: how to solve the two compartment problem). following his guidelines for eating and nutrition, and also severely cutting sugar intake (Google: Dr Robert Lustig) i've lowered my BMI from close to 34 down to 25 and should hit a healthy 24.x within the month.

understanding the science of nutrition really changed my whole way of thinking about the food and even the way i ate. i do not eat three meals a day and that works for me. i hope you find your path to better health.
