Needing Motivation

Hi,

I am a newcomer. I use to be a Division I basketball player who never had to watch what she ate. Well two kids later and 59.9 pounds heavier than I was eight years ago  , I am in desperate need of motivation pertaining to weight loss. Not to mention, my health requires it:eek: . Please give any feedback that you feel will help.

Thanks,

Peaky

Welcome, Peaky. Good Luck with your goals. I have just been trying to keep under 1700 calories a day and exercising a bit. I am really bad about the exercising. I could be doing way more, but I just try to do something everyday and I have lost 17lbs since June 5th. You are athletic and probably like exercise a lot more than I do, so should be no problem if you watch your food intake. My advice is to plan ahead. Don't give yourself excuses to eat poorly. I usually prepare some things one day a week to have on hand. If I am tired or don't feel like cooking, I'll grab less than nutritious food to eat .If I have things I can heat up or salad fixings ready I am much less likely to fail. Seems to be working for me so far. Some days I don't do so well, but I just move on and do better the next day. You can do it!

Welcome to the forum, Peaky :D The first thing I would suggest is to make a list of all the reasons you want to lose weight. Put it where you can see it and look at it often. Now that is said, watch your calorie count for the day. It makes no difference how "careful" you are if you eat too much of it - yes, there IS sucha thing as too much of good things:D Start with that and slowly tweak as necessary. Please feel free to PM me with any questions or just to "chat" :D

You know what has motivated me, besides this wonderful site? I have a pair of American Eagle jeans that I would absolutely KILL to wear again. I have had them in the back of my closet folded up for a few years. I didn't used to be this heavy. I'm at my heaviest after the birth of my baby. I remember loving my wardrobe. That saddens me the most, that I can't wear them anymore. BUT...now I am determined to fit into these clothes again. You can lose the weight. I know you can do it, and if you want a fat shoulder to cry on, I'm here. Good luck sweetie, and stick with it!

Re: Need Motivation

Thanks for all of your positive feedback. I will begin to count calories and workout a bit more (in between taking care of the kids, my full-time job, and attending graduate school full-time). I know that I can do it. I am planning to workout instead of sitting on the couch once the kids are asleep.

I will keep you guys posted in regards to my success in doing so;)

I use the to remind me what it feels like to lose weight and what it feels like to gain weight. It works for me.

Cheers,

Terry
