Need to lose weight and keep it off.

About 5 or 6 years ago I lost 55 pounds and was down to 136.5 for about a minute. I lost the weight over about 7 months with eating mostly health food and about 3 months of exercise toward the end. I started at 192 and when I looked in the mirror at 136 I was too skinny. It freaked me out and I stopped working out as much and going back to buffets on occasion. After about a year I had stopped working out and was up to 145. At that point I joined a gym and started working out about 2 to 5 times a week. Now my weight fluctuates between 145 and 155. I have now changed gyms and go to 9rounds. I really like the workout but haven't been back in about three weeks. I was on vacation for 1.5 weeks and have not been motivated to return. I really like the trainers but I just don't seem to have any energy to motivate me to go. I would just rather take a nap. I had dealt with depression about a year ago and am possibly slipping back into that. Have an appointment in about two weeks so hopefully that will help. I'm hoping this forum will help me get some motivation back.

Another issue I have is my husband is absolutely no help. He eats crappy unhealthy food all the time and loves to go to buffets. He also never exercises and actually spent our vacation either letting me go to the theme parks alone or complaining about all the walking when he went with me. He did not like when I was so thin at 136 and multiple people at work had told me it was too small also when I had gained some weight back.

People who eat unhealthy food around us makes us eat those food because psychologically we tend to choose what is chosen by our loved ones. Anyways, you just be strong and focus on your health. You should always make your husband learn the benefits of good health and disadvantage of eating crappy food. Keep realizing him about this fact.

Well done for losing weight so successfully 5 or 6 years ago.

Sometimes we get the motivation to get back to good habits by gritting our teeth and getting on with it and doing it whether we are motivated or not... The fact is that it is easier to do things once you are on a roll... Once you have a good habit going it is easier to do it for another day in a row - to keep a regular appointment... For the gym - you maybe arrange to see some friends at a class - and the social aspect can help you keep it up too...

I would say - you know you like the workouts at the gym so go and you could always post in our exercise based clubs and challenges and tell me (and others) about what you have done. Before you know it - it will be the automatic things because it is that time of the week...

As for husbands eating crappy food goes - I know (probably more than most) how big a challenge it can be... I learnt a decade ago that my husband and I had dieted together many times - we would be good together - but the minute one of us found it time to fail - we failed together gloriously...

A decade ago that we both had a major weight problem - and realised that I had to detach myself totally from his eating and exercise habits... I ate my food - he either had bigger portions or something totally different... Once I saw positive results - it was easier to keep away from the naughty things...

At the end of the day - you deserve the healthier lifestyle which you want - and it is his choice whether he adopts healthier habits or ignores them. If he chooses to ignore them - he probably will not be as fit as you for walking around...

He may feel threatened by your thinner figure - so I would be guided by the opinion of your doctor and things like body fat percent and BMI.

Went to the gym today - yeah. Felt really good. Lost a lot on my push-ups.

My husband and I already do kind of cook or prep foods for ourselves. My issue is that I tend to grab his food too since it looks so good. I was going for some chips today but had some non-fat cottage cheese instead. I was still going to eat the chips but realized I wasn't hungry anymore so skipped them and took a nap. Naps always help me to eat less since you can't eat when you're sleeping :).

Well done
