Hi My name is April and I have been working on my weightloss goal for about 8 weeks now. I started at 264 pounds. I do a weekly weigh in on Sundays, and have so far lost 22 pounds. I am a member of another weightloss forum as well, but the support I was getting from other members there has really dropped off. I don't want to say poor little me, but I was constantly providing this support to others and started feeling kind of bad about never hearing a "good job" or "don't get discouraged" from anyone else. I've been browsing through here for a few days now and people seem to really be involved with each other. That's what I need. I think I've done pretty good so far, and I don't want to lose sight of my goals, but I don't really have a supportive structure at home, so thanks for taking the time to read my post and I would greatly appreciate any tips or help anyone can give me.

you are deffinately welcome here, and you will get that extra push and encouragement we all need!
22 pounds in 8 weeks is great!
Mostly we post in our "diaries" and we check on each other everyday... we post what we've ate and the exercise we've done and we tell each other if we think the other needs improvement or we compliment each other.
And we all have some great laughs!
I hope you like it here. I know I do! ;)

Thanks so much for the warm welcome. I am very happy with seeing the numbers go down, I'm just waiting for the size change. That will make the bif difference in my attitude I think. :D

Thanks, I'm hoping the name will need to be changed soon! I live about 30 miles southeast of San Antonio, so right now I'm watching the weather and holding my breath. We are in the path for the inland tropical storm after Rita hits. I've been battling weight all my life. I remember my first "diet" was egg and grapefruit when I was 12. You ate nothing but eggs and grapefruit for 6 weeks. 1/2 a grapefruit for every 2 eggs. I did lose a massive amount of weight, but that's a crazy way to live. Now, I am just being careful about the food choices I make and increasing my activity levels. I also go to a website call fitday.com where I monitor all my foods and activities. It shows me charts and graphs that help me see if I am balancing my diet properly and getting all my nutrients and how I am burning calories. I decided that I can't live my life depriving myself, so now if I want something that's not so good for me, it's okay. I limit the amount and make adjustments in my daily intake to allow for it. My mom keeps telling me it won't work, but it's working so far, I haven't once felt unhappy because I'm "dieting".

Hi,
KCCRUZ, CHRISTINA, WONDERWOMAN & TEXAS BLUEBONNET,
2BIGFORTEXAS : I have to agree with KCCRUZ you have to be renamed, you must have felt terrible when you thought of that name and pretty soon you will have to call yourself 2SMALLFORTEXAS. Your Weight loss is excellent. I have lost 29 lbs in 40 days which is about 5 1/2 weeks. I must say though I am drinking plenty of water to make sure my system is totally flushing out all the time. I am on the Cohen's diet which is absolutely excellent but must admit the price is pretty expensive but I am the type of person that needs to follow a guide line or I just go astray, so it was worth it for me. My goal is to get down to 132 lbs, I started at 199 so I still have 38 lbs to go. I am hoping to get there by Christmas. You make sure you keep up your good work and don't worry what other people say, if it works for you then that's all you need. I know when you start a diet and it starts coming off you just want to tell the world, but then you get people asking all the time, "HOW MUCH HAVE YOU LOST" or 'HOW IS THE DIET GOING - ARE YOU STILL ON IT" you know when they ask that you begin to feel like, well if you asking if I'm still on it, then it must be that you can't see I have lost weight and then your mind starts playing tricks on you....Don't let anyone get you down. I actually got asked that questin the other day by my cousin and I just told here, I went off the diet a few weeks ago and couldn't be bothered, guess what, you could basically hear happiness in her voice. I don't get to see her that often so when I do see her she is going to have to make some type of comment. Like, oh, I thought you said you went off it, and you know what I'll say. Sorry, I was lying....(eat your heart out).
KCCRUZ: You are 100% right. When you have lost 30 lbs (well in my case 29)you clothes definitely do not fit, they are baggy and look terrible, but what a great feeling knowing that you can't wear them any more. Luckly I never through out my old jeans and cloths I loved from when I was thin so I can't wait to slip back into them again.
Well everyone, it was lovely to read you threads and I hope you don't mind me posting here. Support is the main thing on a diet and unfortunatley good support is hard to find. Best wishes and take care everyone.
Joy from Australia
