Need support for losing weight

I am 21 years old and I am a college student. Last summer I lost about 25 lbs. However I have gained that back because I think I lost it all due to stress and then I lost my job and I haven't been as active. I have a treadmill at home that keeps breaking so that isn't helping me and it makes me frustrated. I also have an exercise bike. I want to lose a lot of weight, I am very overweight and would like to lose 100 lbs. I just need support and advice and people to keep me motivated. I try to use the treadmill for 30 mins at about 3 mph or a little more. The bike is just so blah that I don't like using it. If there is anyone that can give me some advice on what to do and how to keep myself motivated please talk to me. I want to look and feel good before I start my career. I have such a hard time keeping weight off it is just so depressing.

why don't you like your exercise bike? You could put it in front of the TV - if you like watching TV - and bike while watching your favorite show. I used to have a skiing machine right in my living room and I used it everyday while watching soaps (i was doing shift work at the time and was home early). If you don't like watching TV, you could try listening to music or books on tape.
How often do you use your treadmill - every day, once a week? You should try and increase your speed or the time continuously a little bit.

have you tried doing any running/biking outside? it's a lot more interesting ...
you could also set some goals for yourself in weight loss and progress in your exercise. You should slowly increase the speed and duration of your exercise to receive optimal benefits. Just keep working at it and we will be here to support u.

Just keep at it, once you start to see the results exercise will be soooo adicting. Over the past 2 years I have lost almost 80lbs. Its hard but so worth it. You will feel so much better when you start loosing, then when people start making nice comments about how you look, thats when it will all come together. Maybe you could find a buddy to walk/jog/bike with outside. Buddies are awesome, they really can help. Good luck, You Can Do It!!!!!!

I ordered an exercise motivation tape on the internet called Exercise Motivation by Effective Learning Systems, inc. You can find it on

I played it every night whilst falling asleep and listened to it a couple of times during the day, and it seems to be doing the trick. I now exercise every day and much to my surprise even look forward to it.

Hope it helps.

WEll, it all cones down to bordem i think, you obviously sound bored in the exercises that u do.. so y not try something different like that "boy" stated. go for a 30 mins walk everyday.. make sure tho you keep up a rather high speed in walking, you will feel 100% better after walking. Dont worry about what anyone thinks you are doing it for the better of you.

Also, if you cant walk outside then use your tredmile.. get it fixed as fast as possible and do some walking on that make sure that you break a sweat tho, thats how you knpw that you are losing weight.

Good luck, if u want anymore help just msg me

:) I just started using a pedometer. I put it on in the morning and I make sure I take at least 10000 steps a day. THat works out to a little over 4 miles a day. It gives you somthing tangible to gage how much activity you are doing or not doing. I got the idea from a magazine and it is a movement called AOM..America on the Move...there may be a website. Its good for me because I hate to exercise but I make myself get to that number one way or another.
Good Luck!

ha - foodlover - should've read this post before writing in your diary - oh well. I am kind of curious to find out how much I walk in a day. Where did you get your pedometer? Does it just count steps or does it have other features as well?

pedometer

Hello, I think I got mine at Dicks Sporting goods...it counts the time, miles, steps and cals burned...I guess you can get them at some drugs stores for around $16.00.... go for the inexpensive model they work. Good luck!

That pedometer sounds like a really good idea - do you wear it all day long? I guess that would motivate me too, if in the evening I checked and I wasn't at my goal yet. I am not sure that I would make it as high as yours. I'll probably check how much I do on a regular day and go from there.

i use a pedometer i got at radio shack. yep and 4 miles is 10,000 steps a day. so i know if i do 4 miles evry night on my walk then im doing alright. but i do sit most of the rest of the day which isnt good. i dont wear mine all day tho. the one i have is calculated for my own stride length and weight. it measures steps taken, miles, calories burned. plus it has timer and alarm which i dont know how to work. hmm guess i need to recalibrate it.
