Hospice has been called in with my grandmother. :(

I am the only homemaker in the family. so, I am the one who will be staying with her during the day. My uncle will come in each evening at 5:00.

I live 25 miles from her. I have to be there by 6:00 am.
I am trying to figure a way to do this...still eat healthy.
Come home and cook for the family and still fit in exercise.

Not quite sure how to work this one out. My exercise equipment is at my house. I usually walk a track each day but now......... unless I cook for my family, go walk the track, and then shower, and go to bed. "sigh"
This is drining me nuts. I just quit the smokes and was doing decent with the new eating habits. Just don't wanna blow the exercise. I can fit the food in. Will be complicated but can be done.

This will be for an indefinate period of time. her daughter is driving back to florida on Saturday and won't be returning untll she gets worse.

Any suggestions will be appreciated!!

maybe you should get a house maid to help you :)

will this be for 7 days a week - it's going to be really tough on you mentally and physically - both on you and your family... I'd ask your husband for some help around the house -

Do as much meal preparation in advance as possible -there's a cooking show on the food network that the host of the show gives ideas on how to cook once and eat 2 or 3 times... that might help you out a bunch especially if you plan your meals ahead of time. Leave a whiteboard on the fridge with themeals and if you arent home right away someone can start dinner.

Exercise you might be able to fit in while you're with your grandmother - i'm sure there will be times where she's napping - use that for you time.

seriously though - this is going to be a tough time - do take care of yourself... and make sure you get plenty of time for yourself...

I agree with... mal. Just remember you still have to take care of yourself.. I work with hospice and a nursing homes.. all day everyday, the one thing you need to exprece with the rest of the family is you'll need their help with things and if you have to at least put some exercise to the side for a while.. spend the time with your grandmother and let her know its okay to go.
