need stronger

i play basket ball for my high school and i need some excersive in helping to make me having stronger legs. My verticle jump is 20 inch and im kinda short and wonder what can help me jump higher without buying jump soles.i have weights and currently i been doing toe raises. also what can help me move faster on the basket ball court. Does bench, incline , decline pressing stunt your growth?

This is what I do.. At my school we have these weight machines.. Its like a "bench press" station kinda thing. It balances the bar for you and everything.. ****. im trying to think on how to explain this. its like.. I dunno, not free weights, but, you can add weight to it and stuff. What I do is stand on a platform about 6" tall. Put my toes on it, and have the other half of my foot hanging off. Then I usually slap on 225 lbs and go up, and down. Stand on my tip-toes, then let my heals drop below the platform. it really works out ur cavs.
 
jump rope can help your vertical jump height so try getting some 20lbs dumb bells or something and jump. do this until you can jump higher than you could without wieghts.
 
dam lunges are a bitch, theyre such a bitch thats what my football coach made us do for punishment. they work. think. doing lunges across the field in your pads

lol corple i know what you mean, my coach when hes feeling like being an asshole he makes us do them backwards its the same excersise just a pain cause your balance is off more.

if you havnt gone through puberty DO NOT LIFT WEIGHTS, they can damage your growth plates deforming your bones. stick to excersises that use your own weight nothing to high impact but adding a few extra pounds with dumbbells is ok
