hello everyone, im Jeff. I am new to this web site hoping to get help from other and to make friends . im 5'6 and 325lbs. im FAT. i have started to eat salads a lot, every time i go to a restaurant with friends i will order a Greek salad with grill chicken. so the past week i have been eating nothing but salads with sometimes beef on it or chicken ( never fried always grill ) i got more hungry so i started to eat those healthy rice cakes about 40 calories. i have been drinking lots of water. my exercise is work paint a lot up and down on ladders sometimes and i move heavy things. after that i got home and make a salad than later on a rice cake no more eating past 7pm. i have a treadmill witch i am gonna start using LOL. im also thinking about buying a StairMaster and a rowing machine. my idea is to do 15 min on each machine maybe more on the treadmill than i will 30 min each after time. Now i need help by you reading this , does this sound good am I doing the right thing? any advise will help a lot. thank you for reading

Just be careful not to cut your calories too low. You can still lose weight and eat plenty of food, so dont go hungry or you'll end up quitting or regaining weight as soon as you start eating more normally. Just make sure you have at least 3 balanced meals that fill you up. The salads sound good, but what about for breakfast? What you are doing from your description is basically a low carb thing. If you're not trying to do low carb, you can certainly add in a nice breakfast with bread etc.

Bottom line is that you need to cut from what you were eating before, not going into extreme mode. You will lose if you just cut from your starting point. If you feel like listing an average day's food, before you started your diet, that might help figure things out.

Any cardio is going to be great for you of course, so your plan there sounds great.

Good luck and congrats for DOING THIS!

Stay Focused

Hi Jeff
You sound like you have a great attitude about starting to loose weight. This is probably one of the hardest things that anyone who is overweight does. But you sound like you are on the right track.
Some things to consider may be:
Make a health shopping list and stick to it when you shop. Make it full of veggies, fruits, protein and a few carbs. You will need your carbs for you exercise.
Work on increasing your exercise regieme by 5-10 minutes a week.
Make yourself tasty meals like baked chicken, veggie sides and brown rice. Brown rice and whole wheat pasta are better carb choices then white rice and flour pasta.
If you are craving sweets, treat yourself, just in smaller portions and not too often. You can drive yourself crazy if you never have a treat.
Drink green tea. It is great for your metabolism.
There are also some helpfull supplements out there, it interested in learning more about one that I have found, email me at gina@ginasmaxed.com.
Good Luck!

maxworks thanks

thanks maxworks for your advise. About the shopping list i have made a list and will continue. i had a slice of cake and about 6 beers with my boss we ad a little xmas party but after that i felt guilty so i started walking for 30 min on my treadmill. I have plenty of green tea that can take over my coffee cravings. do you know any good smoothie recipes i tried frozen mix berries , 1/2 banana and orange juice it was pretty good but if you know any other that would be cool. expesially breakfast smoothie i never have time in the AM im out at 5:30 am everyday. once again thanx for the advise

Send me PM. I can help you.

Spamming is not permitted on this forum.

And really, your Eastern European style English (incorrect grammar, missing "the" and "a") etc) on the spam advertising link is really pathetic and unprofessional. It makes me trust the diet product you are pushing even less.

I apologize for my English because I was born not in the USA. But I do not think that Good English influence on getting rid of extra pounds of weight.

The people on this forum do fine with weight loss without the pills you are pushing. And frankly I wouldn't take anything from your most unprofessional site. This forum is not here for free advertising of your pills.

Yeah don't cut your food down to much. It's important you still have meals and such. Don't just make it all salads. Everything sounds pretty good have lots and lots of liquids. You can have snacks just have them low calories or vegies and fruits, which are another important thing to have. Honestly the best thing to do if you have a little extra money is to join a support group. Like weight watchers it's amazing, it helps a lot. (= Good luck on your weight loss journey.

Now, I have a question for you how do you post a thread? xD Everytime I ask someone after saying something I usually get ignored on that part AND I'm getting quite frustrated, and almost want to quit the site. please message me

To start a new thread, you go into the relevant forum, like Advanced Weight Loss or Weight Loss in the Media or the Journals and then click on Forum Tools at the top of the screen, then click on Post a New Thread.

I hope all is going well so far. I have a recommendation for you. If you feel up to it I would get started on a weight training program.

The best thing to do would be add some lean body mass to your frame. This will increase the amount of calories your body needs each day making it much easier to lose body fat. When you train to add lean body mass you are doing several things that help increase fat-burning. You are expending calories(energy) during your weight training both from fat and the food you eat. Next, your body is burning more calories because it has to repair the muscle tissue from your workouts.

The cardio is great for helping you burn calories, but in the long run your metabolism will slow down. You want the exact opposite to happen. Good luck!
