Hey I want to help my mom and my aunts get in shape. Could someone give me a Routine that I could do with my aunts around my house. Of course probably mainly consisting of cardio.
I'm not sure how old they are, but weight training at any age, especially for postmenapausal females is very important. The cardio is great, but add some weights to their routine too. They'll shape up alot quicker and be more motivated to keep going.
I've found most videos to be pretty boring after about the 2nd rewind...LOL. Getting outdoors and walking is the best for beginners. Buy them a cheap pedometer so they can measure their progress each day and try to go a little further or a little fast each time.
Getting older, I at 15 probably have no idea, but exercise that is soft on the joints is preferable to avoid joint problems. Weight training would be useful but for them to 'keep in shape' make sure firstly they have a well balanced diet.
Maybe a cardio warm up watching a Pearce Bronson ( Or Mom and Aunts choice ) movie .
Richards Simmons if a fun guy but we would prefer to leave him for the young people to watch.
Please send to the over 50 board a different instructor.
I am in agreement with Trish. A little weight training is a must. I started lifting light weights a year ago. I was amazed at how quickly one can see results.
I have heard many people enjoy aquatic workouts.
I am still catching up on reading this board. I know I will have lots of questions.
Although I used to play alot of sports I never was a jogger.
Had not jogged for years unless there was a good sale at my fav shop.
Awhile ago I felt good and just wanted to jog. It is an ugly site to see. I huff and puff run flat foot and take lots of breaks but I feel good after so would will continue.
