Need ideas

I need some exercise ideas. I am more partial to in my home exercises I can do...I am very self conscience, so I don't feel comfortable going outside in public and exercising. Do you think dancing is a good fat burner? I know walking is a good exercise, but just how long should I walk a day?

my highest recorded starting weight was where you are right now and walking was my exercise of choice.. on a weekly basis I would increase the time til I was walking an hour a day and then go for distance increase.

Dancing is good exercise as long as you're doing it for a while... though I still dance aroudn the kitchen when I'm cooking dinner -I'm getting better too :) i actally don't cut myself with knives anymore when I boogie when I chop :D

Check the Workout thread above -there's no reason why most of those exercises couldn't be done at home.

When you don't weigh 150lbs any form of exercise seems daunting, and it still really does to me - but just doing something -anything - helps tremendously...

Hi there,

I completely sympathise with you here.

I suggest the following things if possible:

If you have stairs trying going up and down and up and down - do this 10 times a day - and try and increase this by 1 or 2 every day. therefore:

Up & Down is 1
Up & Down is 2
etc...

Also try some gentle jogging on the spot trying doing this for 5 mins to 10 mins (Or as much as you can do) every morning on an empty stomach.

Also stick your feet under the edge of the sofa and do 2x10 sit ups.

Good luck and I hope I have been of some help.

Oh I know..lol, I was just being random! I didn't notice that until today!

I can definitely walk without even noticing I am going very far. Me and my friend "accidentally" walked 2 and a half miles without even realizing it. It took us about 45 minutes..so I think I will start there.

I do DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) at home, and it is good exercise. You need some equipment for it though. You can also buy fitness videos and work out in your living room. Barbells work for lifting weights at home.

I like DDR, too. I used to play more often, but I'm spending the next few months building up to run 3 miles at a time. Once I get there... who knows :). Still try to fit DDR in once a week.

I have some video's but I dont like the one's I need equipment for. I'd rather be able to pop it in without having to set anything up. I'm lazy about that. My DDR mat sits right in front of the TV. My weights are along my living room wall. If I had to get this stuff ready, I'd never do it.

But starting with walking is a good place to build from.
