I am about mid 200s trying to lose some serious weight. I have started on a Medifast diet and want to start doing exercise. I do have membership to a gym and I read that doing weights could be just effective than cardio.. I am currently following the plan below and would like someone to help me formulate a 6-7 day per week plan? I prob lean toward weights more... cardio gets so boring...

Day1: 3 x Chest, 2 x Biceps, 1 x Abs
Day3: 4 x Legs, 2 x Shoulders
Day5: 2 x Back, 2 x Triceps, 1 x Traps, 1 x Abs

thanks!

Cardio may be boring but at the same time it is necessary in your workout. It keeps your metabolism going, and gives your muscles a chance to rest while you still get exercise. There are many different ways to make cardio more interesting (HIIT sessions, running backwards, timing yourself on sprints/runs and trying to reach a faster time). But there is no way around it, to lose that belly fat you need to add some cardio to your workout. And by cardio I mean, running that will actually burn off your fat. That is more than just a mile or two! You know how you are exhausted from lifting weights at the gym? An effective cardio workout should also leave you just as tired.

Also, you should really workout your abs on non-weight training days. What exercises are you doing at the gym? You say Day 1 is chest/biceps/abs but specifically what exercises are you planning on doing (bench press, incline press, etc. etc.) When you make an exercise regimen be as specific as possible it'll help you stay focused!

List the exercises that you intend on starting out with and I'm sure more people will have some tips for you to get you going!

And as my username suggests, I am a BIG supporter of running, particularly sprinting haha. If you haven't looked into it before, look into HIIT sessions, I really am a huge fan of this form of running. It will only take 20 minutes of your day to give you an insane cardio workout, and the best part is your body will continue to be burning off those calories even after your done with the session (that's how intense HIIT sessions are!)

If you want some tips on how to make your running a bit less dull, just ask away I will gladly show you how to make running more enjoyable!
