Need help with exercise plan.

Hello : )
I've been on a diet for a while now and have managed to lost about 74lbs, however this has been without the aid of exercise. I've still got another 74+lbs to go and want to make sure its lost the healthy way to ensure that it will STAY off.

That being said, my past exercise routines have never been so successful and i find it difficult to know when to do cardio and then when to do weights etc. Since i have lots of fat to burn, i need help with a weekly exercise routine to help effectively burn the fat off, incorporating cardio, strength, reps etc.

The only equipment i have access to is a treadmill, rowing machine, exercise stretch cord (thing) and some dumbbells.

If anyone can give me advise, would be very grateful!

I want to lose weight and TONE at the same time. Gotta burn that fat away....: )

Great job on the weight loss!!

I have had more success with Beachbody products than anything else, including the gym. Try Power 90 to start and then you can move into some of the more intense programs. I like them because they tell me exactly what to do on what day, and you can modify the exercises for your level. And they aren't as annoying as other workout videos :hurray: I am now addicted and can't go a day without doing one.

Good luck on the rest of the journey.

There are several good threads in the exercise area that you should check out - especially the one called The Conceptual Side of Weight Lifting by Steve. It will help you understand why weight lifting is important, and how to build a weights program and then supplement it with cardio for the most benefit.

I don't really care to promote a company's products but if you can afford it, I would definitely recommend this option as well! Especially since you already have the necessary equipment. (dumbbells, bands, etc.) I've been utilizing P90X as my source of exercise and can't imagine doing anything else. It takes the monotony out of always using the treadmill, recumbent bike, or going from one machine to the next in the gym. :)

And for cost savings... I'm sure the company does not like it, but you can buy the videos on e-bay a lot cheaper than from the actual company. And I don't buy into all the supplements and stuff, so you won't have to spend anything on that.
