Hi iam kinda new. I have been on and off of dieting and execiseing the past couple of months. I am trying to figure out a workout routine with cardio and weight training so i will be more committed to it. my workout now consist of 30 min. on the eliptical and 30 min on the treadmill. I try to make it to the gym every other day but i havent been trying hard enough. I want to fit strenght training in so if anybody has any suggestions i willing to commit a hour or even two everyday. and iam not sure how to start a strenght training routine.

For a strenth training routine, I would strongly suggest getting a session or two with a personal trainer at your gym... it shouldn't cost all that much for minimal sessions... but it's really important because you want to make sure you are getting he most bang for your workout and using the equipment properly.

Discuss your goals with them and ask them to show you what you should be doing...

Hi! I agree that working with a personal trainer, either in person or online, may be helpful to you, as long as they are going to teach you about proper form. It's very important to understand how to properly perform exercises to avoid injury and get the most out of your workout.

Weight lifting should not take an hour. An effective workout can be done in half an hour. Remember that it's important to challenge your muscle with heavy weights, once you get used to the exercises. Don't be afraid to go heavy as long as you can maintain proper form. It's also important to have rest days and even rest weeks away from weights to give your muscles a break.

Let me know if I Can help at all!

I workout at home, but have been to a personal trainer in the past to make sure my form was right. I have dumbbells that I use, plus I have some DVD's and great books for reference. Body for Life for Women has great pics to use as your guide as do Denise Austin's, Shrink Your Female Fat Zones. I must say that since I started strength training just a few months ago, it has given me amazing results!! It's great way to prevent bone loss, build better posture, lower blood pressure, burn more calories and tone up!
Let us know how you do. Take some before pics for your own reference and take some measurements too.
Oh, don't get discouraged if the weight loss slows down. Mine did, but I went from a size 10 to a 6 (so far) and I weigh 145!! Muscle weighs more thatn fat, but takes up less space in your body....YEAH!

thanks everyone i will look into the ideas you gave
