Need help getting things right please? (diet and exercise issues)

Ok, I am trying to settle at a weight I feel comfortable at, having a history of eating disorders. I have decided on 126 Ibs and I am 5'9.9 inches tall, female.

I started off by just doing 30 mins stationary bike, 4 times a week, and cutting out the cake and stuff I had been eating. I lost 10 Ibs, in fact, got to 124/125 at one point, but at some stage, I felt the need to keep increasing my exercise until I was doing an hour bike, an hour speed walking and 30 mins of these toning type exercises I do (these consist of swinging my legs in various ways, squats, situps, walking on my buttocks, waist exercises etc).

I then changed to doing 90 minutes cycling a day, plus my 30 mins other exercises, and things went wrong... I started binge eating at night, and had a week of doing this.

I have now somehow gone up to 127.5 (initially went up to 128.4) over a 2 day period and I do not know if it is muscle or the binge eating, but it is upsetting me and I want guidance as to how I should eat, and how much exercise and what exercise I should do to get my weight back to 126 and maintain it without any more muscle gain.

I have stopped the binge eating, and cut my food intake back to around 1500 a day,all healthy stuff.

Can I be honest? It doesn't sound like your history of eating disorders is history. Are you having problems? Being upset over 1lb gain of potential muscle strikes a nerve with me....along with the two hours a day of exercise. Do you think perhaps you still have a bit of your disordered eating issues to deal with?

If this is the case, you should be back at 126 in no time. after that, eat at your maintenance caloric needs and you should be fine.

another thing, don't let it get to you if the scale goes up by a pound or two in one day. If you know you have been eating right, then its not FAT gain. A pound of fat is about 3500 of extra calories above your daily requirement. that means you have to eat 5000 - 6000 calories in one day. But keep the binge eating under control, and you should be fine.

Best of luck to you

One never entirely loses their ED issues, but my worst ones were over 15 years ago. I just still, naturally, am very conscious of my weight and size at times, but then a lot of people are. A Ib or 2 IBS is a lot to me when I wish to remain at uk 9 stone and not be over that. I worked hard to get back down to this, and do not wish it to keep going up and up due to muscle gain or somesuch... I want muscle, but not so much that it gets ridiculous.

I don't know what to tell you then. If you insist you aren't having an ED issue but you don't want to gain 1 lb of muscle because of what the scale says, I haven't any idea what to say.

You are already very thin for your height. A pound or two pounds is NOT a lot not matter how you look at it. I admire that you want to be healthy and look good but it honestly sounds like you have some psychological issues to work out. You seem to be really obsessed over a pound or two which is not healthy at all. In my opinion, you should seek counseling to deal with this.

I'm also 5'9", and can't IMAGINE being below 150, let alone below 130. I'd be a skeleton.....Do you have a small bone structure, or what?
