I need to lose as much weight as I can and I am at a complete loss. I need to lose as much weight as possible by June 24th and I know I'm not going to lose it all, but I want to do my best. I KNOW i need to eat around 6 times a day, very small meals, drink alot of water, stay away from oils snack and try not to drin k anything with calories in it....Lately I haven't been doing that because I thought I could fool my body by eating few calories and bruing 1000 cals with exercise of vigorous jump rope....but it backfired on me. I have bad knees and I now am unable to jump rope or walk alot for that matter, without pain in my knees and I didn't lose a pound. So I have no idea what I could possibly do for exercise. I need to strenght train but I need cardio as well and I really dont know what I could do. Any ideas anyone?

Few questions:

1. What are your stats? Age, weight, height, sex, etc.

2. What is on June 24th, that has you so concerned about losing weight by then, if you don't mind me asking?

3. Why do you think you need to eat 6 times per day?

4. What do you mean by "stay away from oil"?

5. Do you belong to a gym?

Hi Hybrid Girl,
I'm sure Steve will post with some insights - he is a wealth of nutritional and fitness advice...

In the meantime, I want to welcome you to the WLF and let you know you CAN lose this weight.

You and I started out about the same weight and have similar goals. I've stood in your shoes hon, and I KNOW how frigging overwhelming it feels.

Here's the good news - you CAN do it!

It's one pound, one day and sometimes one meal at a time.

I had a hard time looking at the BIG picture, 100 pounds is like asking me to jump to the moon - but as you learn what to eat, how much to eat, what exercises really help and what doesn't, you'll begin to form habits that will help you not only get the weight off, but keep it off as well.

At one point, early on in my weight loss journey, I had to go to a water park. The idea of walking around in an amusement park in a bathing suit was more then I could wrap my head around.

I went and I watched...there were 7000 people there that day - guess how many perfect bodies I saw?

Two.

That's it. Two.
It made me feel a lot better ;)

As for a gym, I don't go because of tight funds - but remember, people are there for the same reason you would be there...to reach their goals.

It's no different then coming here. We're all working on this one day at a time.

Again, welcome to the WLF, I look forward to getting to know you as you head towards your goals!

Eating small frequent meals does not boost your metabolism. If you can fit that man meals in, very good. I, myself, eat 6-7 meals. However, don't worry about killing yourself to do it. Total energy balance at the end of the day is what matters.

Remember that there is a difference between good fats and bad fats. Right? That is why I questioned you on the oil. Some oils are good. Flax, olive, etc.

How are you tracking calories?

I highly suggest signing up for a gym. I think you will find, rather quickly, that the other gym goers could care less. The gym is a place to get in shape at. Not a place to go once you are in shape.

If you are against it completely, maybe it is time to start looking for some equipment at home, depending on what kind of funds you have available.

In this other diet plan I started it told me that about eatting more meals per day in small amounts

I try not to use oil but when I do I use olive oil

Usually I track my cals by writing them down if thats what you're asking?

I'm currently looking around for gyms in my area that have women only sessions, it would make me more comfortable.

I find that the 6 meals is a bit hard, so i stick to 3 meals a day and make sure i slip in 2-3 snacks inbetween. Effectivly its 6 meals a day, but the breaky/lunch/dinner and larger and its a more 'normal' routine for me anyway. Basicly i never get to the stage where im starving and end up overeating.

Not sure if that helps you anyway , Listen to Steve, not only is he hot, but he has brains too :D

exercise

I do this video called walk off weight. It's broken down onto 3 segments. it's all low cardio by walking in place, kicks, knee lifts, side steps stuff like that. 1st segment is 20 mins of walking and you walk 1mile. Segment 2 is 1 1/2 miles in 20 minutes and the 3rd segment is a challenging 1 1/2 miles in 15 minutes. I think this video is great because its low impact. Sometimes I do 2 segments together. and then sometimes I just do 1 segment depending on my mood. I also do a firm off weight loss tape which is set up the same way. They are made by Leslie Sansone.

thats what made the original diet hard.....but i figured a good way to get to eating 6 times a day...is ill just have my frozen meals with a salad and fruit in between....small portions around 1200-1500 cals a day.....i think that sounds pretty good?

well depends. are you starving yourself on that calorie load? chances are if you are starving, then your body is as well. During this mode, it is harder to lose body fat because your body doesn't know when your next meal is coming and wants to hold onto its most precious calorie source = fat!

If at all possible, I would say away from pre-packaged type foods. if you cook dinner the night before, make extra for your lunch the next day. frozen meals have a multitude of ingredients, which almost translate into more salt and chemicals your body doesn't need. Cooking allows you to know what you are putting into your body.

I've seen many diets fail because the person had unrealistic goals in mind. (e.g. I wanna lose 50 pounds in 2 months). Then they get discouraged and drop out because their bodies only lost 2 lb per week (which is damn good in my book). I'd shoot for 1-2 lb weight loss and slowly add intensity to your exercise routines.
