Need for Moderators

Im posting this because Im starting to see some very unhappy board members here and I think someone needs to address this. I may take some heat, but that is ok, this is nothing against current mods.

As a site with over 10K members and over 120K posts, I think we can say that there is a need for more moderators. This site has seen an increase in members and activity over the last half a year, and things are starting to get a little out of hand. Ive seen many offensive posts lately (posts with personal threats and putdowns) that are not getting handled as quickly as need be. I am not the only, dare I say, "seasoned" member who thinks this way. I know some very knowledgable individuals that have left because of the lack of control on this site. Many more individuals could continue to leave if something isnt done, and then we will be left with nothing but uneducated members who think bench press and arm curls is a great workout!

People come to this site looking for help on one of the most important aspects of their life, self esteem and confidence. This usually goes hand in hand with achieving fitness goals, but this wont happen if the members with experience are deterred away by wreckless individuals who care nothing about overall health. Simply put this site needs more control.

I know about a month and a half ago I asked if an additional mod was needed and was told that the current mods did not think another was needed. I have tremendous respect for Allen, Doug, JP, and Mreik, however I think a reevaluation is needed and more mods need to be considered. Im not bitter that the decision was not favorable, but when I see members who know their stuff and have been around for awhile leaving for good, something needs to be said. I think it also needs to be more than just one mod added as well.

I dont know if this is the right way to approach this, however I am hoping that I will get the backing from members I know feel the same to show how the community feels, and this is not just coming from me.

Agreed,
It is not that the current mods should be here all the time.. I just think that spreading the workload over more people might be a good idea. I support what Tony is preaching.

Ido agree with Tony,i see many confuse male, who post their diary or pics in womens forum and beg for some attention from Mods,
i dont know whats holding the other Mods back...but there must be more mods

I agree as well. I only post in "ignorance" when I see it in peoples posts. Sometimes I just like to point out that you can't be like that.. or say that because its degrading someone else. I have alot of respect for all the current mods including mreik the greatest. I think this discussion should be taken seriously and chosen wisely more towards the "seasoned" members... I could name 3 top of my head who would be great candidates.

I agree 100% with what Tony said. Nothing against the mods now, but there needs to be more of them. I also can think of several off the top of my head. There are too many new members thinking they can go off and insult people and have no recourse to it. I've also noticed some vets and people with real knowledge leaving, and I don't like it. We need more mods, that's it.

I have to agree with everyone. The mods here are doing a great job, but the ratio is way out of balance. A few more mods would really help out.

Agreed 100%, the mods have done and are doing a great job, but as Tony said, the site just keeps growing - and with that comes the bad with the good.

Agreed, there is a need for more mods. I only know of three and while they all do a good job, one has commitments elsewhere, another said he been spending time away from all sites, leaving the one to carry most of the load.

I would love to be a Mod specifically for the martial arts forum.

I think if each mod had a section it would be more efficient as it would be easier to scan "every post".

And I promise to start spell checking my posts.

I agree that this site needs more mods to run this forum in a professional manner. Things have gotten a little out of hand as of late and I'd hate to see this site get a bad name.

Agree 100% Tony! Great post.
I do not post too often, but I do read around here and have learned a lot.
I have gotten to know a lot of you and there are members here, who more than qualifies to be a moderator, as I do also see a need for more control on the forum!

The current mods are great......(mreik, you know I love ya! lol.)..but now it is time to get these mods the help they need to save the future of the forum.

I'm trying to achieve fitness goals and would love to get accurate information on things when I need help. There are ppl here who can help me achive these goals, for sure!---but if you wait too long before a new mod is put in place, I'm afraid that these "qualified", knowledgeable members will disapear.:(

I do agree with the fact that peeps come on here looking to better themselves. Unfortunately, they are not always getting accurate info. I'm not claiming to have a solution for this, but I do agree something should be done, because a majority of the members are knowledgable and helpful. As LV stated we don't need a bad rap because a few members post BS replies on here. If I can be of some help I'll gladly do what I can.

I don't agree at all. Chaos checks chaos. Anarchy, yeah!

Just kidding. Make me an Admin and I'll swiftly deal with the state of these forums, hahahaaa

yeah i completely agree, although by seasoned members it should mean the ones that have been here a while and know a bit not people that have a huge post count. The thing is i can only think of one person on here who should really be a moderator who already isn't.

And that would be? We might as well name candidates and reasoning behind them while we're at it.

Although I will say this: a high post count is a good indicator that the boardie is actually active and interacting, which are two things that we are looking for. However, there are also other qualifying factors, such as post content what whatnot.

Good thing you aren't basing it solely on that... I would have had to nominate ProteinBoy. :p

BTW I can think of 3 that could be mods
