Hi Guys and Gals.

Here is my predicament:
I currently started working out two weeks ago.
I'm relatively fit, former fighter and swimmer .
However over the past 3-4 years I've gained 10kgs.

Week 1 - Start weight: 77kgs
I started exercising every morning: I ran 7kms five times a week without changing my eating habits. It takes me about 52mins to complete each run.
Result after one week: 77kgs

Week 2:

Ran 7kms, this time was only four times this week, still at about 52 mins per run. Reduced my intake by about 30%.

Result on after week two: 77kgs.

I suspect I may be gaining muscle? I could be wrong. My belly has def gotten slightly smaller.

In the past when I ran: 3 times a week, I would loose about 1.8kgs a week. I'm thinking of reverting back to that.

Any advice would be appreciated. View attachment 24102View attachment 24103

It's not about weight loss. Ignore the scale. As a former athlete, you should know that body measurements are much more valuable to your overall fitness than the scale. Your body goes through all sorts of changes every single day. If you are doing a lot of running, you are probably drinking a lot of water. So any weight that you may be losing may be added back on in water weight or muscle. It's tough to say.

If you are able to keep up with such a rigourous program, keep going but start measuring your body dimensions and be patient. Wait a couple months before checking your progress again. Your body is still benefiting from the training (as long as you aren't over training), even if the scale isn't responding the way you want it to.

Lastly, it's difficult to get off a plateau. If you have been at the same weight for a long time, it can take a long time for your body to accept that you are trying to change. I've been the same weight for most of my adult life, but I've gone from 8% BF to 26% BF and every where in between multiple times, with only a change of only 3-4 kg.
