Sport Need advice on bruising...

Sport Fitness
I was just wondering what could be the cause of constant bruising. I always have a few, and I don't remember hurting myself at all. I guess that means I bruise easily, but why? I am trying to eat healthy, I exercise 5 days a week, I take a multivitamin. Am I deficient in a certain vitamin or mineral? Thank in advance for input.

I'm curious too. I've noticed many tiny bruises up and down my legs. I used to think it was potassium I was lacking, but I'm deffinately getting enough of that right now. Could it be iron?

I have no idea about the iron and potassium.

I couldn't help but notice your name and avatar... are you a nursing mother? I just quit nursing at new years. The bruising was worse when I was nursing. Maybe it's related to that.

I'm no doctor but my sis n' mom bruise alot because there both Anemic, and there doc says that is the cause from low white blood cells. They were told to start taking Iron pills, and it helped them alot. Even if your not anemic, bruising comes from iron deficientcy, well thats one possibility, but a big one. I have heard those Iron pills should, and will help, as well as more Vit. C. Also if you take aspirin, don't. Hope that helps.

If it persists, I would see the doc. and get your blood tested. Nothing major, just for your records, its easily taken care once you know.

I am nursing a tiny bit. I have been either nursing or pregnant or both for the past 5 years! The bruising just started though. Off and on all my life, but I just noticed when I was putting lotion on the other day that from hip to knee I have a bunch of little tiny light bruises. I think I will up my iron to see if that helps. Also, I was looking around on the internet and it seems Vitamin C could possibly help. Doesn't hurt to try!

Those are indeed signs of Anemia which i just found out i have. Best thing to do is pick up a slow release iron pill if you have a sensitive digestion system (you can do regualr iron pills if you dont) and vitiman c.

Signs of Anemia are:
Insomnia
fatigue
Pale skin
Bruise Easy
Acute Respitory issues
Heart Palpitations

If you have any or all then taking iron suppliments will help you big time.
