I'm 32 yo male 5'9 228lb. I do exercise, sometimes 4 and sometimes 1 time a week... but the weight doesn't seem to come off... especially after i turned 30... I'm trying to get on a diet or some kind of healthy meal plan but always loosing a grip... I would hold for a few days and then either it's work, stress... party or something else and I would let it slip... staying on a diet is more mental for me than it is physical. I mean I can do 4mi with no problem on treadmill with a good sweat I also do weights... I enjoy workout. But once I slip... I get lazy... i might skip a week and then I feel like I'm starting all over again and not seeing any progress at all... I know determination is the key! I've done it before! I went from 260 down to 190 at one point and stayed that way for almost 2 years... What I'm trying to say here people: has anyone had this problem before (I'm sure you did) and how you've dealt with it? i mean I eat breakfast and then i might or might not have lunch but if I skip lunch- the dinner has to be a feast! Can anyone suggest how to keep motivation? How to stop yourself and really have a grip on a diet? Thanks guys for looking.

Hey Lionos,

I think we've all been in your shoes at somepoint. What I've learned is if you stumbled (or completely face plant) in your diet/exercise, you just need to get up dust yourself off and try again the next day. Don't let one day keep you down. So you ate a whole bag of chips one night, put it behind you and start over. As time goes on, you'll get stronger.

I know sometimes I don't feel like working out, but I try to do something to be active everyday.

As far as your diet, I don't look at mine as a diet. I'm just eating healthier and watching my calories. I'm in the calories in vs. calories out battle.

Try to eat 3 meals a day. I never though breakfast was important, but it really kickstarts my day. Don't skip meals, that just makes you think you can eat more. Buy fruits and veggies to snack on when your hungry.

As for motivation, stay on this forum! Start a diary here on the board. Write down what you eat and the calories if that's how your doing things. Then record your exercise and anything else you wish to share. You'll get loads of tips and motivation. I didn't think it would help me very much, but I find myself on here everyday looking forward to other peoples stories and the motivational remarks of the people who frequent my diary.

I wouldn't be losing weight if it wasn't for this forum!

Find a friend to dexercise and eat healthy with. You will keep each other straight. And I agree with the first response. Don't worry about screwing up. It is what you do in the long run that matters, not just for one day. Just move on and keep going. Talk to people on this list for support.
