Hey everyone!
I don't get a chance to read things other than text books and since I am headed to a beach holiday at Christmas, I would love some suggestions for some books to bring with!
My criteria:
1. Cannot be slow to get into...my attention span and time is short
2. Must be funny
3. Must be sexy
4. Must not be degrading to women, (well not completely)
5. Must be enjoyable
6. No murder mystery
7. Yes to chick flick type drama... (loved Bridgette Jones and others like that!)
8. Cannot be an epic novel that will cost me more in baggage allowance...

I loved the Shopaholic books... If you're not too embarrassed to buy them, lol.

the shopaholic series is hysterical (the latest book is due out in february)- sophie kinsella is the author - while there are moments you want to smack the crap out of the heroiine of the book, they are so funny they are worth the read - Sophie has also written two other books not in that series hat are also great.

In Her Shoes or Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner - her main characters are generaly "real women" they aren't size 2 waifs - they are flawed but they are likeable characters... and excellent reads

Because of the humor request -I'd definitely go with Sophie Kinsella - she meets all your requirements

I TOTALLY HATE CHRISTMAS - but every year I must read one christmas themed book so as to not turn grinchier than I am..

Jeff Guinn has written the Christmas Chronicles - it's a series of three books - the autobiography of santa claus, how mrs claus saved christmas and this years entry - the great santa search.... These books aren't "light reading" they require a few neurons firing.. but they are well researched, entertaining, funny and really good reads -

the autobiography of santa claus is santa's story as told by santa - definitely a must read - maybe not for the beach but it's agreat book

Another chick Lit writer is Jane Green - the first book I read of hers was Jemina J and it was a good book - again like bridget jones -a non size 3 perfect heroine - She's written a few others that are quite good as well...

The Undomestic Goddess is a great book and I will need to dbl check authour...she wirtes well and is an easy read...I just started the shopoholic series ... I will think abt this as I am shoveling snow:)

i hate it more than words could ever express - if i could take a pill and wake up in january - in time for ground hog day - a holiday that is under appreciated.. it would be a good thing.. .

I love the Janet Evanovich series called Stephanie Plum stories - there is 12 so far ( I think) starts with "One for the Money " tehn "Two for the Dough " etc etc. Funny stories about a chick from Trenton NJ who out of lack of options becomes a bounty hunter , it is one of the only writers where I actually laugh out loud and my household gives me funny looks :) plus there are two very sexy men she goes back and forth between. Light reads and very entertaining.

Another good series is the the "Outlander" series by Diana Gabaldon. Maybe not quite as light as some of the other ones, but totally entertaining and engrossing.

The Outlander series is one that I think of when I said that it needs to be easy for me to get into. I took the first book from the Outlander series with me to Mexico a couple of years ago. I heard from sooo many people how great it was. I just couldn't get into it... My attention span is too short.
