OK, I have gotten halfway to my ultimate goal...and im ready to finish it but im wondering is there anyway to get at least a 2 pack by april 10th? i was 200lbs now i am at 180lbs..and would like to be at 160lbs with some muscle...since i am wanting to be a life guard my height is 5' 10.5" any ideas anyone think its possible without killing myself. lol

First off, please understand more so then any other muscle group. Abs are Very genetic, now that that said we can move on to advise.

In order to have a cut abs you have to have a Low BF% for your body hight. then exercise your core like you would any other muscle.

Ps
Do not do 500 crunches a day, it will not help with your goals.

Like mentioned before cut ab's rely on low BMI. If you have a large frame then 160 might be a good weight for you and you may develop decently. I can't really comment as it's really an per-individual result.

If you're dieting and exercising, and you lost the first 20 pretty fast you're on the right track, however 20 pounds in 5 weeks is VERY ambitious without resorting to things like starving yourself which can lower muscle mass as well as body fat and screw up your metabolism. You may want to post your diet, exercise, stats, etc. in the Harsh Truth forum for some more meaningful advice towards your goal.

Abs have NOTHING to do with BMI.

i agree. with abs it's more quality than quantity. (well, with anything really.) but you've definitely gotta burn the fat. keep up with cardio. everyone has potential to show muscle, but if it's covered by layers of fat, you'll never see them, right? makes sense, i think. anyway..good luck!

Well you may be able to work your abs like crazy but you won't be able to see them without less body fat under your skin, thats tone, but I guess I have to explain everything and assume all people on these boards aren't very smart.

Have an awesome day Steve.

we all have abs. whether your BF% is low enough to see them clearly is another matter.

Also, once you do have a BF (lower than about 10%) that doesn't necessarily mean you'll have good loking abs... some people have an 8 pack! others a 4 pack.. abs are genetic - whatever your born with your stuff with.

The only thing you can do with them is make them bigger and more pronounced - but there's only a small amount of room to do this. so you wont see a lot of difference... although, the best abs you (personally per induvidual) can have, will take alot longer than a coupleof months too...

The best thing you can do IMO, is train for muscle mass - that will assist in fat loss and the more muscle you have - the more fat you'll burn.

No, you don't have to explain everything, although I do LOVE educated posts. :D

I was simply stating a contradiction to what you stated. Seeing your abs has nothing to do with your BMI. Yes, it has EVERYTHING in the world to do with your body fat levels. But BMI? No.
