Myoplex Lite

I am 34 yrs old, 5'2 and 127lbs. I quit smoking 1 year 7 months ago and put on 20lbs. I started going to the gym 3 months ago and having difficulty shedding the weight. I do not eat meat. I eat lots of greek yogurts, fruit, kashi cereals, salads and hummus. A friend advised I should start drinking Myoplex Lite since I don't eat meat (or eggs). I am wondering if this is something I should be taking and if it's okay to drink after I workout. I do not get to the gym until 8:30pm. I do cardio for 20-30 minutes and then weights for another 30 minutes, 4 times a week. I want to get down to at least 115lbs.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes it's good after a workout but why that specific brand? You want a fast delivery protein (whey) after your workout and some carbs. Most people, from what I've seen, go with a 2:1 carb to protein ratio, which is about what I do. I' m not anal about it though.

I also think that a blend of protein is good PWO, but there are probably people that will argue with me on that one.

I think you should do weights then cardio.

I was told this particular one due to the lowers carbs and that it was better for women. Is it bad to take it that late at night? By

Out of curiosity, why cardio after weights? I never had a "structured" work out before so I do not know the rights from wrongs when it comes to exercise.

Thanks for your help!

Doing cardio right before weights is only going to waste the energy that you have on cardio and not leave you with enough to perform an efficient workout. If you do cardio early in the day and weights later on, that's fine too, but I wouldn't go with right before lifting. Also, after you lift, your body has used a lot of your glycogen for energy, so it's depleted, which will help you start burning fat for energy more quickly.

Why is myoplex lite better for women? Where did you get that idea?

Most protein powders are very low in carbs 1-2g/serving. Some even have zero carbs. And no it's not bad to take that late at night. The whole eating late is bad thing is a myth. If you hit your calories for the day, the timing is fairly trivial.

Myoplex is a meal replacement drink.
Protein powder is just a protein drink...a 'part' of a meal.

For the price and taste (I've tried most of the myoplex flavors over the years) I'd just get a good protein powder. the vanilla flavor of Nitrean () is to die for.
