My Wellness Journal

Wellness: The quality or state of being healthy in body and mind, especially as the result of deliberate effort.

That's the goal.

*Basically this is going to be my way of not only keeping track of what I eat and my fitness level, but also a tool that I can use to help me improve my life overall. Each day will get it's own post were I will record most of the things that determine my overall well being. This really is going to be more of a journal than just a workout log. The reason I post this here instead of actually writing in a private journal is that here I can get tips and advice from people to help point me in the right direction.

Wednesday - 3 February 2010 (D-1)

UPDATE, 1:28AM: What I thought was going to be my last day of late-night junk food and internet surfing has technically overlapped into day 1 of my journal. Some people may say it doesn't count, but I wanted to start improving myself at 12:00AM. I decided to smoke a blunt with my friend and try to get home in bed by 12:00AM, but it didn't work out. Smoking marijuana is something that I like to do. I just enjoy things much more when I'm high. However, when I smoke late at night I get the munchies. I got home around 12:05 AM, and have done nothing, but eat Oreo's and browse the internet. I need to try and kick the weed smoking. I have class in the morning at 9:00AM until 12:40AM, and I set my alarm at 7:00AM to get up, shower, and to get there on time. I'll probably stay on the internet for another couple minutes then hit the bed. Not a great start, but I will do better. I appreciate any and all questions, advice, tips & criticisms on anything I post in this thread about my life.

UPDATE, 1:21PM: So it turns out that I ate four more Oreo's before going to bed and also a glass of whole milk. My alarm woke me up at 7:00AM and I thought my classes would be cancelled, because of snow. They weren't and I ended up rushing out the door before I could shower, which I hate doing. I managed to eat some breakfast before I ran out the door. I had two, toasted, mini whole-wheat bagels with a thin layer of Natural Jif creamy peanut-butter on each side (making four separate slices with the peanut butter), and a glass of whole milk. I also took my 60mg Cymbalta, and two Adderall 20mg extended release (40mg in total). Right before my classes started I was thirsty so I bought a Lemon-Lime Gatorade normal size. After class I went straight home and had a banana. Which leads me up to this point. I have an appointment with my psychiatrist at 4:30PM, so from now till 4:00PM I will probably take a shower, school work, and random things around the house.

UPDATE, 10:31PM: Ok so day 1 is coming to an end. I was a little more careful and selective about what I ate today, but I still need to research and find better ways of eating. Right now I'm pretty much clueless as to what I'm doing health wise, but I think I will improve a little bit everyday.

What I Ingested:
4 Oreo's - Around 12:20AM

4 Oreo's, Glass of whole milk - Around 1:30AM

Handful of mixed nuts, glass of water - Around 2:40PM

1 whole piece of Chicken Parmesan - Around 3:50PM

Physical Activity:
My only physical activity today was just the walking I did, and some cleaning around the house. I didn't really have much time to start researching and formulating a plan today.

Tomorrow's outlook:
I have class 9:30AM until 12:15AM and then I go into work at 4:00PM. I plan on going to the gym tomorrow just to get my membership card and to look around. Also I will try to get an official height and weight.

I decided this is going to take up too much time to keep up. I will probably just keep my own personal fitness log, and if I have any questions I can just search the forum.
