My Weight Loss Diary!

Today I am starting my weight loss journey again. I will try to post something every day. Hopefully, it helps. I am age 51, six feet tall, and weigh 243 pounds. My goal is to weigh 200 pounds. I have tried every diet imaginable and that includes weight loss medications. The pills don't work long term. Let's find out what does work.

Welcome to the forum, Robert. What's your current eating pattern like and what are you planning to change?

Welcome Robert!

I think your goal is achievable, and am sure you can find the right diet for you.

In my experience any diet that results in you eating fewer calories than you burn works. It has to, basic thermodynamics. Your body needs to get that energy somewhere, and if you don't eat enough to fuel it the energy comes from your body fat. I know that is too simplistic, we are humans with an instinct to eat, most of us to eat too much. So its usually a matter of finding a healthy diet you can stick to.

I'd suggest starting by counting your calories in and estimating what you burn for a while to see where you are.

Best of luck to you!

I eat too much food and I also eat sugary foods like ice cream. I am going to stop that. Eat less food and exercise more.
Sounds reasonable. I'm sure you're aware that if you try to go by willpower alone it gets tough after a while so try and make sure that the food you do eat is satisfying and filling.

Yesterday I would give my eating and fitness a letter grade of C. I did not exercise, but I did eat far less than I did the day before. I weighed myself this morning, and it was 241.2 for a weight loss of -1.8. I do feel very tired, but that's normal.

It was clear to me that writing down everything I ate and the calories did not work. So this time I will stop doing that. I will grade myself instead and make a daily effort to eat less.

I like the idea of grading your days. As long as you don´t chicken out on coming here on bad days I don´t think you have to write everything down unless you´re struggling and want some well-meant advice.

Do what works best for you! That is what will work. LaMa is right, if you have a bad day it is important to come here and talk about it.

Welcome Robert . The diary is great to keep you motivated. I’m on here this eve to avoid eating . I’m not hungry but would love to be snacking on something.

I eat lots of fruit salad and veg and I don’t eat a meal without them . It helps to keep you satisfied.
