My Weigh-In Is Sunday...

I'm trying to lose 4 pounds a week. I was considering not eating anything very substantial on Saturday...would that help? I've eaten pizza this week and feel so guilty for it. I was thinking mostly water and tea on Saturday. Would this help me or hurt me? Advice would rock. Thanks. :)

I have fasted before, and I have liked that it helped me keep my weight down. But I did some stupid stuff that probably wasn't good for me. This would be my advice. If you do fast, when you come off the fast, like the next day (Sunday for you, I guess), eat really light foods--veggies, fruits, juices, soups, broths. Do not eat meat or bread or sugar. That will help ease your body back into food and not shock it or make it pack on pounds again. That's what I would say. I know that's sort of hard, because then it's like 2 days of restricted eating, but I think it might really be worth it.

And, when you fast, make sure you drink lots and lots of water. You want to be a pee machine when you fast. Seriously.

Im not a believer in fasting to lose weight permanently. I would start doing some self education on nutrition. A good place I recommend is Dr. John Berardi, Ph.D. follow the articles~nutrition area and you will find a ton of free articles.

You dont have to starve yourself to lose weight, and noone should.

I'm a faster and have been on my medically supervised program for more than 8 weeks. I would definitely follow protectiva's advice. In addition, I suggests you go out and find a book on safe and healthy short term fasting. This will answer all your questions about what's healthy and what's not so you don't have to come to the forums for a lot of that info. As I'm sure you've realized by now, not a lot of people on this forum support fasting because it's so controversial. Whatever you choose to do, be "consistent" with it that you don't keep shocking your body and possibly do harm to it. Good luck. :)
