My wedding dress ain't fittin'

Okay....I seriously need some help. Hopefully someone can offer some advice.

My story in a nutshell:

I'm getting married April 16th. I purchased my wedding dress last October (I know, it was a dumb move, but the dress was just so perfect!!)

Anyway, I tried my dress on the weekend before last...that puppy wouldn't zip to safe my life! After a good cry, I decided I had to figure out something.

Let me give you a visual...I'm 5'8" and about 155 lbs. Not fat...just a little pooch around the stomach and hips that's keeping my dang dress from zipping.

So.. it's I guess about 6 weeks before my wedding and needless to say...I'm freaking out. I'm pretty sure my dress can't be let out...however if some of this flab doesn't come off, I'll have to seek a seamstress.

I guess I'm asking, what can I do?? Is it even possible to tone up enough to fit in my dress? I sucked it in all I could, and even with a corset bra on, there was still a good six inches that needed to zip. (I'm embarassed now :( )

Well...if the weight loss is impossible, would a girdle work. I'm being serious...I've gotta fit in that dress!! Thanks in advance everyone....I pray that someone will be able to help!

P.S. I forgot to add that since I've tried on the dress, I've drastically cut down on my calorie intake, cut out all sweets, and have started exercising. I feel a little better....but I'm too scared to try on the dress again. As long as the mirror is showing me flab...I'm not trying!!

I know absolutely nothing about dresses, but I think you should try to take a Thermogenic Supplement(ask doctor first) if you want to speed up results. A good one is Animal Cuts/Trimspa/most of the name brand thermogenic work pretty much the same.

Try HIIT workout, with somekind of kickboxing exercise, or anything that stresses your hips to work..

..hopefully someone can find good website on HIIT??

The big question is: Did the dress fit when you bought it?

If it didn't then I would just bite thte bullet and go to the seamstress. You've had 6 months and you didn't lose the weight you won't lose it in 6 weeks (sorry if that is harsh).

Now if it did fit when you bought it, well how much weight have you gained?

If you gained only 5-8 pounds, then get yer butt to the gym and hire a good personal trainer (just a couple of times, but) to show you what you need to do for the next six weeks to obtain the results you need.

Then, DO IT! :)

(You may also want to buy a girdle if you can get close enough but need a leeetle bit more help)

Good luck.

Hey there =) I would definately keep working out and watch what you eat for a little bit... everyone has already given you some really good advice. I'm assuming that you bought it earlier, it fit fine, the holidays hit and you put on a few pounds, and now you just need to get rid of them.

Cardio is really good for helping to shed the pounds. Unfortunately, you won't be able to spot lose in the tummy area, excercise just doesn't work that way. :( But you do have 6 weeks, and I think it's do - able.

There are tons of products out there that help you to suck in your belly for clothes - girdles, underwear with built-in tummy support, just think pantyhose w/ control top taken to the extreme. Something like that would probably help as well if you get close. I would also check where you bought the dress to see if they would do any alterations, or could switch sizes if you are really stressed out about it.

Above all, remember that this is your special day coming up, and so don't stress too much about it - stress doesn't help lose weight at all! take it easy, maybe take a dietary supplement like trim-spa, or one-a-day weight loss... exercise, eat well, and GOOD LUCK!

I live by Winsor Pilates! It's really that amazing, but only if you do it on a regular basis, and if you do it properly. I also do some cardio at the gym and lift weights.

Oh honey good luck with your weight loss I hope you can get back into your dress in time. I hope you have a wonderful wedding day.

It all depends on how drastic you want to be. Cardio for an hour and a half every day and 700-800 calorie diet will help you lose the weight. It will also eat away somewhat at your muscles so I wouldnt recommend doing it for more than a month, but it will help you lose lots of weight(not the best way to do it but it does work)and drinking lots of water, Anyways if you do want to try this do lots of cardio every day, even try HIIT but go for a very long time like 45 minutes. Anyways I do not condone this at all but if you really want to drop the weight fast thats the way to do it. And for supplements go to walmart and get Ephedrine and caffeine pills and use about 100g caffeine, 25g ephedrine, 2 times daily, that will really help too.

Thanks everyone for replying so quickly....I guess I should have maybe told you all a little more about the dress situation.

Yes, it fit perfectly when I bought it. It was even a little big, so I thought hey...I could even put on a few pounds and everything will still be peachy...WRONG!

Honestly, I've probably gained 10 lbs. or so. BUT, I was 155 the day I tried the dress on and it didn't fit, last night I weighed, and I was 148! woo-hoo!
So, I actually am losing a little, just need to firm up the tummy area. That's why I was also wondering about the girdle...if I'm not able to pull off the toning...could the girdle like keep all of the jiggly stuff contained so the dress will fit?

About those pills...I took some Stacker 2 (or maybe it was Stacker 3...??) one time and it made me really weak and shakey. Are there any other pills that won't do that to me?

My diet consists right now of:

Breakfast: One sausage and cheese biscuit (Jimmy Dean kind...microwavable)
One small glass of OJ (Not Sunny D...the real stuff)

Lunch: Usually a half (cut down the middle) sandwhich: One slice of Oscar Meyer Turkey on wheat bread....but lately I've been eating the whole sandwhich :( (I'm hungry!!) and a glass of ice water

Dinner: If I'm doing good, I usually eat the other half of the sandwhich with a glass of water...
But, for example, last night was depressing, so I had some Spaghetti-O's :(

Let me know if this diet is even worth crap! I don't really know a lot about diet and exercise...not to sound rude...but I've never really had to do either before now, so it's all new..

I just know I want my wedding day to be perfect!!

Thanks!

Well for breakfast I havent looked at the side of the box of jimmy dean things but I highly doubt its a good meal for ya, Im guessing lots of saturated fats. the sandwich sounds good as long as theres not too much or any mayonnaise, miracle whip is a lot better than mayo. I dont know whats in Spaghettios so I cant comment on that. Just do a lot of running and stuff like that, the harder you work the faster it will come off. And for the shakiness thing, If it does that much to you then either eat it with food or cut the pill in half, The shakiness is kind of good though, it give ya energy to do a good workout! Good luck to you and I would like to make a recommendation of eating better to not only make you healthier but youll live longer too lol.

Your calories are probably too low, it's not how much you eat but the quality of what you eat. If you're good with self-control I recommend trying out the South Beach Diet for a few weeks, you get your nutrition and most people drop alot of weight on the first phase but you do have to follow pretty strictly. HIIT is great cardio, you can accomplish a big calorie burn in a short amount of time

Hmm... I looked up that HIIT stuff....I bet I can do that. I think I'll start Mon. and just keep doing my regular exercies for the rest of this week (walking, crunches, leg lifts, etc.)

Remind me, what does the South Beach diet consist of? You hear so many negative things about all of these diets that it makes you scared to try any of them. I think I'll go research it though..

So, I need MORE calories? I always though you should cut your calories??

What would be a good sample diet I could try? I don't like salads....I really don't like fruits or vegetables either....about the only ones I eat: oranges, mangos, potatoes, carrots,...I guess that about sums it up.

I never claimed to be a healthy eater....just need to shed some lbs. quick!

Keep the advice comin'!

The South Beach cuts out what it calls bad carbs, mostly from refined foods and cuts out sugar, in fact in the first phase there's no fruit but there are a lot of veggies and meat. It's a healthier version of the high protein diets. It was the only thing that managed to get my last ten pounds off. If you take in too few calories your body goes into starvation mode and you metabolism slows down so that won't do you any good. Do that HIIT training and try to add a decent amount of weight training if you can, muscle weighs more but takes up less space than fat and it doesn't jiggle :)

I also forgot to mention that my sister had the same problem with her wedding dress and she went the lean cruisine route with a Crunch boot camp video for exercise. We got her into the dress but did have the sew a little bit of it together so it didn't gap in the back.

Update

Ok everyone......I mustered up the courage to try my dress on again last night... to my suprise, it fit with ease!! (I knew I was losing weight somewhere!!)

SO...now I just have to keep it off until then. Well, actually I would like to still lose a little more...( about 3 to 5 lbs.) and stay at a healthy weight.

Any tips on how to eat healthier everyday?
Also...I noticed that my arms looked a little...um, not flabby, but not muscular. Like they used to be, but I stopped exercising and now they need toned again. Any tips on how to use me dumbells (or other equipment) to pump them up??

Thanks for all of the support and encouragement!!

I would have to say that you should really concentrate on your diet. Make sure your eating and drinking really heathly. Also you may want to do some weight training because the more muscle you have the higher your metabolism is and you'll also look toner in your gown which will be a plus. Drink LOTS of water. I hope this helps you out some, and good luck on getting into the dress. I had the same problem with a prom dress a couple of years ago and luckily we ended up not going that year or I wouldn't have a dress because I tried it on a week before. Well good luck on getting into it.
