Sport My shopping list/diet, input needed

Sport Fitness
Hey guys here's my situation. Up until about 3 weeks ago, I had a nice 5 day routine at the gym, and I was running 4 miles, 3 times a week. Then I had to move, and I have a lot going on right now my life is up in the air at this point.

For the past 3 weeks I have been settling in, and just getting lots of things squared away. I haven't been working out at all, and I feel like a pile of crap to be honest with you. I have been eating as best as possible, to avoid losing as much muscle as possible.

I am going shopping in a day or two, and I want to find some more things I can add into my carrage to mix it up, and eat as much as possible. All I am going to be doing is some push-ups, and maybe some running, so I just want to sustain that as best as possible, and put me into prime shape for when I hit the gym in a few weeks.

Ensure Drinks
Breakfast Drinks (vitamins and minerals)
Tuna (I eat 2 cans a day)
Peanut Butter (to put into oatmeal)
Eggs (usually have 2-4 eggs a day)
Protien Bars (Met-RX)
Chicken
Nuts
Turkey
Steak
Instant Oatmeal

A normal day would look like this:

Breakfast:
Ensure, multivitamin, breakfast drink, 3 eggs or oatmeal w/PB

Lunch:
Tuna (almost everyday, getting boring)

Dinner:
Chicken/Steak/Turkey

*Now I thought those Met-RX bars were good for you, but I have reading a little over here, and you seem to think differently... Should I eliminate them altogether? Any healthier suggestions?

*I don't eat much vegetables/fruits (I know) but I just can't stand them, never could. So I know I am missing a lot in that department. I try to supplement for them with a multi-vitamin, ensure drink, breakfast drink, etc. I know, I know, there is no substitue. I am looking for things I can add into my shopping list besides fruits and veggies.

*I have some why protein, but I figured since I am not working out it would be a waste. Thats right, correct?

I was into my workout schedule for about 2 months, consistently 5 days a week. I was really starting to notice some major differences, and feeling really good. Then things that are out of my control (parental problems) made a lot of things change, and I'm living in a rooming house, etc. Anyway some help would really be appreciated, I am going crazy here!

Thank you very much!

I would assume that whey protein would never be a waste, its qualiy protein and would be better than those protein bars personally I think those are the waste, as for fruits and veggies have you ever tried making a smoothie or something, put some skim milk in, whey protein and you got yourself a well balanced shake for anytime

Hi,

Swap that instant oatmeal for steel cut oats, they take longer to cook but they are the most nutritious. You can cook them in the evening and put into one serving containers to reheat in the morning.

Also, you gotta eat some veg! Why don't you try green protein smoothies. Buy some frozen berries, add some water & protein powder and 2 cups spinach....blend it and drink it! You could also try egg white scrambles with chopped asparagus & red bell peppers. I know you don't want to buy them, but you really gotta add some veggies.

And what about fruit? Do you like grapes? I love the black seedless grapes with a chunk of low-fat cheese for a snack.

I agree with Gooch, skip those drinks they are loaded with sugar. And make sure the peanut butter is all natural, no added anything!

Something you might want to try, lean ground turkey chili. Mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, kidney beans and lots of chili powder! Let me know if you want a recipe. :)

Yeah, steel cut oats are ideal, but there's nothing wrong with old fashioned or quick oats. Technically they have the same nutritional values, but steel cut oats are slower burning....plus they have a much better texture IMO
