my routine

i've got some pudge i'd like to loose. I'm about 6'1 and 200 lbs.

What i'm aiming for here is just to look better and get into as good as shape as i can. I'm looking to race some motocross this year and I really need some endurance and strength for that.

So far, heres what i'm doing

Staying under about 2000 calories a day. I buy lots of the healthy request stuff, and tuna.

on a typical day i'll get up eat a bowl of cereal with skim milk, snack inbetween, lunch; a bowl of the healthy request soup and some crackers, snack inbetween, dinner; usually a microwave healthy request deal.

I take a multivitamin once a day and a protein shake after each workout.

As far as my workout, i try to make it to the gym three or four times a week.
I have been biking for twenty minutes then doing my workout but i've stepped it up to running a mile and a half and then my workouts.

so, running and then working out either of these groups in a day. 1day; legs, shoulders. 2day; biceps, triceps. 3day; chest, back. 4day; core alone

i usually finish my workout alot faster and make sure i stay there at least an hour. so after about 10 minutes of running, workout, bike until the remaining hour is up.

If anyone has any advice please let me know. I'm kind of going about this casually but I feel like i could be doing it alot better now that i can go to the gym faithfully now.

Good to see you making a log, I think your training split looks a bit crappy though, you only have one day for legs and a whole day just for bi's and tri's!
You work your tri's with upper pushing motions that also hit your chest and your bi's are hit when you pull for back exercises so why not have a chest/tri's day and back/bi's?
I think if you were to follow a bi's/tri's day with back/chest you would find your performance on day two to be lower as you'll still be recovering.

After reading that back I don't think I was as clear as I could have been but hopefully you get the point.

Also, a 200lb guy eating under 2,000 Kcals a day? Don't you think that's a little extreme? Maybe 2,500 would be healthier for weight loss?

i'll make the switch, that makes sense to me. I've been told by alot of people how i need to do my splits and they're all different so i just went with whatever. Do you know a website that I can do some research on workout routines and such?

as far as my diet, i was hoping to drop to about 190 in a month or two but if its going too far i'll slow it down. the reason is my bike is set up for a guy lighter than I am, 190 is pushing it and i wanted to reach that before my first race. the diet thing is the hardest part for me, I get in the grocery store and i don't really know what to buy.

thx for the help typhon
