My planned training program. Anyone see room for improvement?

Hi:

I'm a male 5'5, 150 lbs., 28 years old and in pretty good shape. I currently run a mile in about 8 minutes. I need to redue the time to 6 minutes by next month. I have been training my ass off without improvement. I have an incredibly hard time with stamina come my second lap around the track. So I've come up with this new plan. Please let me know of anything you see wrong, or anything you approve of.

I have a nice relaxed jog for about 5 miles 3-4 days a week.
I do interval training 1 day a week.

Intervals: Run quarter mile (one lap around track) in 2 min or less. Jog quarter mile. Repeat 4x

Will increase interval training to 2 days by the end of this month.

You say that it is the second lap that gives you trouble. It might just be a mental thing there. You should throw in some hard 800 meter runs during the week and you should see that mile time drop.
