My knees are hurting!!

I avoided a machine at Curves because it makes my knees hurt bad, but they're hurting anyway. It sucks because I don't want to go easy on my exercising, but I don't want to damage my knees more. I read some stuff, and it said that I should take Ibuprofen and not be a stranger to an ice pack.

Anyone else have this problem? Should I see a doctor about it? I'm not used to having aches and pains, but they are starting to happen. :(
 
The squat machine huh? When I first started that machine KILLED my knees then the trainer told me I was doing them wrong. When you pull down with the machine be sure to place all of your weight on the back of your heels not the front of your foot. I had to lift the front of my foot up a little on each one to remind me of where to place the pressure when I come down. Now that my positioning is right I have no more problems with my knees.

Give it a try and let me know. Remember, when you come down put all your weight on the heels of your feet. It takes some practice to get used to it because it feels odd, but your knees will thank you....God knows mine did!
 
Yes!! That squat machine is the devil!! Seriously, I worked out on the devil!!!

I must agree, it is the devil! I dread it so! It takes me almost 8 seconds just to pull the darn thing up to get under it! :eek: Hope that helps you, my knees are much better now!
 
dont forget ur knees are bearing all your weight for most of the day anyway, i recommend u start by doing lots of squats without weights, build up a good level of conditioning before moving onto the weights

if its hurting you then something is wrong, no exercise should be painful

sometimes uncomfortable and definately difficult but never painful
 
OHD - My knees aren't hurting anymore. I totally cut out the machine wear you sit down and put your calves though the thingies, and lift. Ya know which one I'm talking about? Also, I used the technique you suggested for the devil machine, lol, and it really improved. No more knee pain. :)

Yayyy! Glad it worked out for you!!! That first machine you were talking about is the leg curl machine, I hate that too. It hurts my shins. Glad you are enjoying (to the extent possible lol) the DEVIL machine. :D
