im 23, 5'7, and weigh around 13.4 stone.

I have been training and eating a lot better for the past month, however theirs a few questions to my diet im unsure of.

1. How much calories i should intake " ruffly ", i work 8-5 mon-fri, as an engineer quite physically busy at work, i exercise every night, so far i have been taking in 1700 cals.

2. What foods i should/shouldnt eat " as much ", my usual everyday starts with a bowl of bran flakes semi skim milk or a yogurt for quickness, thn bananna at lunch, roll on meat around 2-3, dinner varies from steaks to soups.

A lot of rambling in my questioning but any differant foods or help would be great even if it's minimal tips.

oh and i drink 2-3 coffees a day usually 2 at night with 1 sugar and milk is that an issue?

ok, so you need to eat more food. your BMR is around 1700 and with all the work and exercise your maintenance should be somewhere in the 3000 range, probably a bit more. I'd suggest not going below 2000 calories a day at all.

Your food sounds fine actually, I mean... if you want more volume for your calories then veggies is the way to go, other than that eat varied and always choose whole grain. And get some veggies down every damn day, and a fruit ain't no veggie. Fruits are nice and they have more nutrients than a candy bar, but really they're mostly just sugar, water and vitamins. Veggies have more complex carbs, more fibers and more micronutrients.
