I don't really know where to start, I've never done one of these weight loss diaries before. I thought it would be a good idea to start one though, sometimes I lack motivation and I feel like this would be the place to talk to people about weight loss experience.

I will say right off the bat that my weight loss experience so far has been very good!, I've recently loss 17lbs! and i'm starting to notice it, not only in my clothes, but also physically, I'm starting to have more stamina and endurance, and a lot more energy. I'm much more happy as well, I honestly think one of my biggest issues is myself, I'm too hard on myself, I feel like I'm not doing good enough but I know deep down I'm doing great, just need some motivation!

I currently and losing my weight using the WiiU game console playing "Wii Fit U" and "Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2013" and also taking slim fast powder shakes, so far so good!

I thank you guys for taking the time to read this, look forward keeping the forum updated!

Hey Tim, welcome and congrats on the 17 lb loss!

You have done the first thing right, starting the diary. After than I suggest you use it to post your diet and exercise progress. Its a good place to ask questions and get advice as well. Post daily for a while and see how it goes.

Best of luck to you!

Hi, Tim & welcome to the forum. Well done on 17 lbs lost already. You'll be kicking off the new year with a head start.

Hey Tim!
This was a really good idea to start post your thoughts here! It will be a good motivation for everyone including you :)
What is your next goal?

hi Tim... you should look at the diary post "Welcome to the Journals/Diaries at WLF" and answer some of those questions. current height, weight and age are three that can help see what condition you're in now. goals can often be guessed... who doesn't want to be a healthy weight. a question that is not there, which i think should be... if you work, what do you do? that often has an impact on the sort of food you have available and the timing of your meals.

clothes loosening up is a first sign that you are on the right track and a smile you already have gotten. one thing i strongly suggest... take a look at what you have been eating and see if sugar can be cut back. be prepared for a surprise if you haven't seen it already. there aren't many processed foods that do not contain sugar in some form. there are literally dozens of names for sugar.

Hi Tim, Nice to have you here!

That is so great about the weight loss and all your extra energy as a result. That's so great!
Looking forward to hearing more on your continued progress!

Welcome to the forum. You have come to a good place for encouragement and motivation. Best of luck with your weight loss journey!

This is my second entry into my weight loss diary, I would like to thank everyone on this forum for all the comments and motivation, it really means a lot to me!

So I have been doing my diet and workouts for about a month now, and it's really starting to show, I've been getting numerous comments from family and friends, I've been noticing my clothes feeling looser on me, and overall I have been feeling so much more happier!

It's crazy how much more energy and stamina I have. When I first started my workouts, I would do my 1 daily session (cardio, strength training, yoga, aerobics,)
After one of those sessions I would feel exhausted, absolutely defeated, but lately I've been feeling so good after one of my sessions that I'll even do another full session, and even some other activites after!
Instead of feeling defeated and exhausted, I feel good, and proud of myself, proud of everything I have achieved so far! It's crazy how much better I feel!

I'm so happy I discovered this forum, it's such a positive place, and I'm happy to say that I am a part of it!

Thank you everybody!
I know what you mean about the increase energy and stamina--I'm noticing that with me too! Feels good!
Hey Tim, good to hear from you again, and it seems you are doing very well.

I think the energy increase comes not only from exercising but from lowering your calorie intake. Keep up the good work!

Hi, Tim. I moved the entries from your second diary thread to here so that they will be in the one place. You add entries by replying at the bottom of the thread.
I'm glad you have joined the forum too. It's great that you are getting such positive feedback from your family & friends. It's good to see your enthusiasm & that you shared it with us. Positivity is contagious :)

Hey Tim, Cate is right keeping it all in one thread will make it easier for people to read your history.

And I am sure you will do well, and make good history here!

Entry #3

So far the workout is still going great, I have to say though, today is just one of those days where I'm lacking a bit of motivation. Still watching what I eat, and working out, sometimes it's just a little tough to stay motovated, I think the main reason is for I feel like I gain weight very easily, So whenever I happen to eat a little too much for a supper, I always feel like i'm throwing my diet away, I'm sure you guys understand. I'm not giving up though, I have dieted so many times but this time really does feel different, I feel like I'm losing weight in a healthy way, just need ways to stay motivated!

I thank you all for all the support, If you guys could name some ways to stay motivated on days like this, I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

There will be days when you're just not feeling it. I gain weight easily too. Don't weigh yourself every day. Once a week is enough. Don't let one evening or meal derail you. These are early days. It takes time to make new habits & to change your lifestyle.
Make a list of positives.
Write down all the benefits you will get from achieving your goal and reaching your desired weight. Save your list and then pull it out whenever your motivation is lacking and read over it a few times. You might like to put it somewhere where you will see it every day until you reach your goal, just to remind yourself. This is a powerful way to reconnect with your motivation and your own personal reasons for losing weight.

Make a list of negatives.
You can combine this with your list of benefits to give yourself even more motivation to continue. Ask yourself these questions: How will my life look in 5 years if I continue to stay on the same path as I am now? How will my life likely become worse for me and maybe even the people around me? Try to see the negative consequences as vividly as you can in your mind to kick start your motivation to continue following those positive lifestyle changes again.
Happy New Year, Tim!

Here are two quotes that motivate me to keep going after an off-plan day:

“Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.” - adapted from Voltaire

“If you can’t run, walk, if you can’t walk, crawl, but by all means keep moving.” - Martin Luther King, Jr.

... “Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.”....

my guess is that Voltaire didn't know too many engineers. i was never any good at knowing when a design was good enough. if you don't eventually pull the plug, an engineer will just keep going and going.
