My feet are starting to get numb!

Hey you guys. I have been running for a while now consistently and all of the sudden (as in the past 3 times I've ran) my feet began to get numb. I wear the same shoes every time, I run about the same distance as of late (3 or so miles) but it keeps happening. The surface I run on is a old bricked side-walk that have cracks and broken/bump bricks on it. I have been running on this surface for about 3 weeks now, and just now my feet get completely numb.

When I stop and walk a little it goes away, I don't really mind running with numb feet I'm not sure how safe it is however. also, I'm not like putting a death grip on my feet or anything by tightening my shoelaces as tight as they go... I don't know, ideas?

-Also is it still okay for me to run ever when they are numb, as it really doesn't bother me to much.

This is probably something that should be brought to the attention of a physician if it persists. I really don't want to scare you unnecessarily, but I had the same thing happen and didn't get it checked out until persistent pain began in one of my legs. It turned out that I had deep vein thrombosis (blood clots) and could have ended my life if I hadn't got in to be treated when I did. I hope this is not the case with you, but you should definitely get it checked out if it does persist.

you run barefoot sometimes, then you strap shoes on at other times, so of course yoou are going to have different effects on your feet and the vascular function.

do something consistently for a few runs and see if things settle in.

if you didnt run barefoot half the time, I would be with NBS- worn out shoes.

if you go to the doctor maybe you'll get lucky and he'll give you 100 vicoden and tell you to stop running ;) that's what they do! Then in a year you can go back for detox treatment, and they will put you on some other med. ultimately you get to have insulin daily! LOL I crack myself up!

Deep vein thrombosis is very scary. My general practitioner was concerned that I had it and ordered an immediate ultrasound.

Tekton: try loosening your laces or a different pair of shoes. I don't get numb feet when running but routinely do when cycling if I don't loosen my shoes as they swell as they get hotter.

My feet are starting to get numb

I've been getting numbness when I run lately too; but only in one foot and usually it seems to be only in a couple of toes and part of the foot. It starts after I've run awhile and then usually stops after I've run awhile longer. Is this a fairly common thing with everybody? ( I hope it's ok to add this to this thread)
