Friendly reminder for other T2 Diabetec folks.....
Just got back from a doctor visit. Was running out of BG test strips and needed a script to get some more. If wondering, my last Doctor visit was Dec 15 - 2008.
During today's visit, we did my body weight (down 60 lbs since 1 year ago), BP check (110/72), checked my feet (all feels fine), LDL Cholestoral 2.1, etc. etc. We also went through many pages of my weekly BG test log as well. If wondering, I only BG test my body 1 day (8-10 times) per week, or when NOT feeling well. My doctor wanted me to explain each page (which also shows BG number, food item intake, exercise overlay, stress overlay and sleeping patterns), why I felt my BG number was up or down for that specific reading and asked what I should have done differently. As we finished analyzing my 8.5x11 pad of detailed log BG readings, she asked if she can share my many "lessons learned" with her other "D" patients. Folks who have "D" but haven't (or don't know how) to get their BG numbers under control. Yes. Lifestyle improvements like better "lower carb" eating, 3+ hours of exercise every day, etc. etc. that will save their life as well. A little shocked (because she kept calling me her Role Mole "D" patient), I replied with "sure - if it will help them too". In the end, my doctor said, "see in you June or July - which every works best for you". All because my hbA1C, BP, Cholestor, etc. etc. are now within Normal Body range.
As a reminder to other T2 folks, do "eat to your BG meter", do find time to exercise every day, do drop the extra body fat, do increase muscle mass, do stop smoking and do avoid stress as well. Each of these things help. Help keep your "D" under better management as well. And if lucky enough, drive your BG numbers back down into normal body range as well....
Hope this helps others - who are T2 Diabetec folks as well....
