My Diary

Ok, here it goes.

I'm 22, 6'4", 220lbs. I'm a fairly athletic guy, I love playing soccer as well as other sports. At the beginning of the year I joined a gym because I was the heaviest I had ever been. I weighed 242lbs and had a22% BFI, I had primarily done cardio 3-5 times a week as well as machine weights. After I had dropped most of my unnecessay bodyfat I started using freeweights again (I trained w/them in highschool). Now I've moved and no longer belong to a gym and I don't want to join one until I know I can get to the gym three times (or more) a week. Right now I am playing soccer once a week (Thursday) and I absolutely love it, my main goals are to lose a little bit more of my bodyfat (I'm assuming I have about a 17% BFI). After the summer starts to wind down I want to join a gym and start lifting again. Until then I am eating healthier (and less), playing soccer and jogging to drop more weight. I would like to get down to 205-210 by September 17th (my bday).

This is a way to keep me honest and to have an idea of my progress. I have some pics of when I was 240 that I may post if I can find.

Cheers!

here are a couple of pics;

The first one was when I joined the gym in January, the second in March after I had worked out for 3 months, by that time I had dropped about 15lbs while building some lean mass.

Good luck! that is 10 lbs in 3.5 weeks which is over 2 lbs a week.. which from what I understand is too much... and would put you at risk to be loosing muscle as well... 500 cal deficit a day puts you at 1 pound a week... 1000 cal deficit puts you at 2 pounds a week... 3500 cals = 1 pound... or so they say...

... keep up the good work!

Thx for the reply. I've actually been at it one week prior to posting this, so I have given myself more time to drop the weight.

Last night I spoke w/a friend that is a personal trainer and he gave me some tips. Obviously I have to be more active and eat healthier, then I'll see many more gains.

This morning before work I did this small workout;
30lb Dumb bell Squats -10x3
30lb "Good mornings" -10x3
Very slow pushups- As many as I could
30lb Dumbbell Incline Press -3x8
Various Situps

As you might imagine this isn't too much of a workout for me, but it's better than not doing anything. I'm planning on doing this MWF and doing pushups and situps everyday. I would like to be able to get up to 100 pushups a time, but that's a long shot right now 40-50 is my current max. Any suggestions for the number of situps to do in a day?

I need to take a current pic! :)

Forgot to say that I weighed myself last night @ 217lbs! :D

I asked one of my trainer friends what I should do for home workout type crap and he suggested getting a stability ball. I picked one of those up last thursday and haven't been able to workout until this morning before work.

Quite the weekend with moving furniture, a wedding, and a tool concert. Glad to finally be back at home and relaxing a little.

This morning I did;
3x10 Squats
3x10 Good mornings
30 Stability ball (SB) pushups
3x8 Incline press on SB
Some akward situps

I wasn't really motivated and I don't think this will hold me over for very long. Since I've lifted much more in the past this seems like it is a waste. Oh well, I'll keep it up and coupled with eating healthier I can hopefully drop some lbs. I'm going to the bike shop today to get a new tire and tube for my bike, hopefully I can go for a ride tonight!

Cheers!

this morning did;

wall squats w/SB
Leg curls w/SB
Pushups w/SB
Dumbbell press w/SB
Incline press w/SB
dumbbell row
dumbbell curls

Trying to do this type of routine MWF, play soccer thurs and do other cardio 1-2 times more during the week. I've primarily been working on my diet, which has been going well. I feel much more fit, especially on the soccer pitch. :D

this morning;

wall squats w/sb
goodmornings
leg curls
abs
pushups w/sb
incline press w/sb
one arm row w/sb
curls

I'm feeling soooo much better just doing these short exercises. I've also been playing soccer much better than I had just 3-4 weeks ago. I've scored 5 times in the last 3 games and my stamina is much much better.

go me!

Pretty hard soccer game last thursday. We lost 2-3, but were down 3 players. I was handed a yellow card and I was pretty sore the next day from taking some hits. Saturday I played paintball w/some friends and that was a blast, even more sore on Sunday. I ate way too much this weekend, not healthy stuff either. Woke up late for work this morning and wasn't able to do my morning exercises, I'll have to do them tonight.

cheers.

Damn, haven't posted in awhile. Still doing the exercises in the morning on MWF and playing soccer on Thursdays. Trying to either ride a bike or run at least 1 time a week to supplement not playing soccer more.

The soccer season ends in 3 weeks and I plan on joining a gym at that time. More free time to go work out and get to where I want to be. I'm weighing in at 215lbs and I feel better about what I'm eating, but no huge gains have been noticed other than on the soccer pitch. Thanks for reading.

There will be days or weekends where you just lose it on food.. but it looks like your staying on track and know what needs to get done. Keep at it bro.. the before n' after looked like a big difference.. use that to fuel you.
