My Diary

Hello,
Ok I'm currenty trying to lose around 3stone in weight over the next couple of months. I have been 'dieting' for awhile now but I seem to give up easily. I used to go to the gym 3 times per week but recently I have lost all motivation. I have also been eating unhealthily latley so I am determined to get back on track.

Ok my stats :

Age : 16
Height : 6"2
Weight : 270pounds ( 19st 5)

The main reason for me wanting to lose weight is for health reasons.I recently found out I had high blood pressure and that really isn't something I want at my age. I hope by starting a diary it will encourage me to keep on track this time.

My goals :

Lose 3.5 Pounds per week
Go to the gym 4 times a week
Cut down on the junk food

Any tips you guys might have are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Aaron

EDIT : Just realised I posted this in the womens section lol. Could someone move it? :p

Hi Aaron. Congratulations on making the decision to have a healthier lifestyle. You will find a huge amount of information on these forums which will help you to achieve your goals. A couple of tips to begin with would be to work out your BMR (Base Metabolic Rate) to give you the number of calories you need based on your activity levels. Subtract 500 calories and that will give you what you should be eating to lose weight safely. Also, try to eat smaller meals 5-6 times a day rather than 2 or 3 larger meals to make up those calories. Drink LOTS of water. Good hydration is an essential part of weight loss. I would also advise that you cut out the junk food rather than cut down on it - eat good, clean foods and you'll be amazed at the results!

Oh, and don't worry about having a diary in the women's section. I made the same mistake and have never chosen to move it because everyone who posts in my diary has been extremely encouraging!

Good luck with achieving your goals. When you start seeing the weight come off, the motivation will naturally follow :)

Here are some general guidelines.

Eat 5-6 meals a day, include a complex carb and protein at each meal

Drink lots of water

Train ALL your bodyparts

Do cardio after you weight train, unless you do the cardio first thing in the morning, then you can weigh train later in the afternoon/evening

Allow at least 48 hours before you train the same bodypart.

Be sure to get enough sleep.

Like I mentioned these are just a few guidelines. They should help you get started on the right track. I'm sure other members will offer their advice as well. Use the search on this forum, there is lots of good info on here. Good luck with your goals
