Ok, I am 21 yrs old, 6'1 and 215 lbs roughly. I dont know my BMI but I know I am over weight. I work 7-5 M-F and when I get home I just want to collapse lol. But I have one set of 30 lb dumbells, and thats it. I am trying to build muscle. I dont necessarily want to trim any areas but my stomach, so I can get my ab definition back. Anyone have any advice? I am willing to try anything.

You can do a search virtually anywhere and get a BMI calculation - of course they probably vary here and there.

Anyway, I found this for you:

For WEIGHT: 210 Lbs. (95.3 Kg); HEIGHT: 6 Ft., 1 In. (185.4 CM)
Body Mass Index (BMI) = 27.71 - Overweight.

Of course you already knew that last statement, that's just what the calculator said (not me.)

You're the same height as my hubby - he is a little more weight then you.

Here is a site you check out:

Good luck!

No, dumbells arent adjustable. I think my major thing is my food intake, and my lack of cardio. I mean I notice a small burn in fat and a huge increase in muslce in my abs, but fat is still there. Because I do 40 reps per set, and do 4 to 6 reps every other day

Simple doesn't always cut it though, right? :)

Very few people actually use the simple principles. :) Many like to think too hard and overcomplicate.

What kinds of exercises are you doing? Weight loss is going to come from eating healthier first, exercise second.

On a daily basis? mainly crunches, curls, squats and stretches. If I have time I will do some yoga/stretches. But mainly triceps, biceps, chest, abs, and squats is what I do for a few hours

hey

hey nfarnham

hope you don't mind me jumping aboard adding my view's
I had the same problem straight in from work tired looked at free weights.
then looked at my bed, and guess which one looked a better idea at the time,
im sure you now this yourself weight loss is more mentally challenging then physical. this is where i lacked in effort. and those nights where i did manage 400-500 sit ups per night i was in pain and uncomfortable in work the next day.
so i purchased a 6 seconds abs machine and guess what WOW! a tv product that really works hardly any effort resistance adjust and great results.(dont worry i am not a sales rep lol)
but i found i was getting the same results if not better results from doing only 100-200 motions sat comfortably in a chair, rather then 500-600 reps on the cold floor wishing i was on my last set off reps. give it a go mate it really worked for me i can tel my stomach sides and whole torso have seriously trimmed and become more defined i actually have sum what off a figure be warned tho mate this is one off those like most you have to keep doing it on a regular basis or mass decrease is noticeable, this may just be my own results, also the bike at the gym gives me great results burning over 120 calories in just 10mins, maybe this could be a great tool in weight loss for your home in those busy moments. cv training is my main target at the moment,
well sorry to bore you mate,
btw this is my very first post i hope you feel special lol :willy_nilly::hurray:

No spot reduction

Morning,

I'm not an expert in this area, but I do know that spot-reduction is a myth (Fat Loss & Weight Training Myths is a good read). So if I were you, I'd concentrate upon shedding the weight first so your abs naturally show.

Data points,

Barbara
