MuscleMilk. what else ??

I take Muscle Milk from CytoSport after workout. Its the only supplement I take right now. I am going to start intensity training next week onwards. So I am also thinking about starting whey protein.
Is Muscle Milk and Whey Protein enuf? or do I need Creatine too.

I am just starting with supplements so I dont wanna over do anything.

Muscle milk would not be my choice for PWO. You're looking for a higher amount of carbs and Muscle milk does not have a lot of carbs but has a lot of fat. And don't get caught up in their marketing about the lean lipids that help you to burn fat...if you're getting to much fat, you're going to get fat.

That's not necessarily so. There are different types of fats. Fats don't automatically make you fat. That's like saying both LDL and HDL are cholestrol, so they're all bad for you. Try to be a little more informed before givin someone a black and white answer like that.

From what I've read about Muscle Milk, it supposedly helps your body produce it's own creatine. I was usin ON's Anabolic Milk, but they've discontinued it, so I just ordered some Muscle Milk. I like the research I did on it.

And Andy, Muscle milk already contains Whey Protein (32 grams I think). Are you tryin to gain weight? Do you have a problem keeping weight on (hardgainer) or do you have fat you want to lose as well as build muscle? If you're a hardgainer with a fast metobolism, Muscle Milk shouldn't do you wrong.

If you tend to get a bit flabby, (slower metobolism) space out your servings. I believe the directions call for 2 scoops. Break it up. One in the mornin, and one at night, with water. That way your body processes each scoop and abosorbs it better.

Muscle Milk is a s***ty pwo shake.

Honestly, its garbage. If you still have your reciept take it back.

After an intense weight training session the muscles are in a glycogen depleted state. This is the time that you want to take advantage of replenishing glycogen with a fast acting carb such as dextrose, along with whey protein.

Also, Muscle Milk would never been in my diet whether bulking or cutting. It combines all 3 macros in the same serving which can, and usually will, lead to fat storage. My goal is to gain lean, dry mass while bulking, not adding fat.

There are MANY better options out there.

same here. ppl are getting too hung up on musclemilk just because of the magazine ads.

whats in there to help your body generate creatine is not enough to do anything. plus some have written about some health concerns with this product.

andy, what matters most is the weight on the bar and the food on your plate. supplements will only make up some will say 10% of total gains. dont worry about them too much. if you want to use something after training, a whey blend or even a whey/casein blend would be the best bet. or you can just do 2 cups of fat free chocolate milk and that will more than adequately get the job done. :)

I never said fat makes you fat. I said to much fat will make you fat. There's nothing misinformed in that. Their big marketing hype is "drink our product and burn fat." Well, if someone is already getting more than enough fat, muscle milk is not going to help them burn fat.

And, yes, of course, there are different types of fat. But it doesn't matter if I get 500 grams of good fats or 500 grams of bad fats, if I get to much fat, I will get fat. So before you go off and get all correction happy and tell me to be more informed, reread my posts before miswording what I typed.

Thanks,
Buckit, Well I am 5'11'' and 170 lb. but I do tend to gain weight quickly. I do rock climbing and soccer actively. But I am just starting to do weight training. I havent taken any supplements till now. The idea behind the supplements was to have a balanced intake of proteins which is difficult in my diet since I am a vegan.

you guys are right. I started Muscle Milk because it was most visible in ads. and seemed to have everything. And yea, now I do understand that its not a good PWO shake.

So I guess I will just get a whey protein mix for PWO. and continue small amounts for Muscle milk in morning and night. just because i bought it, and cant return it.

The main idea is to supplement my vegetarian diet with proteins and i wanst sure if whey protein is a right decision to supplement my diet that normally has very little protein.

Here is my 2 cents, from my research and from fellow guru's. I would agree with the boys on Muscle Milk not being a great post workout shake, as I am more inclined to take a whey isolate after a workout to get it to my muscles asap.

I do take Muscle Milk however as a night time shake. The reason for this is it has a whey / casein blend of protiens that digest and absorb at different rates, since you are not eating for around 8 hours.

Having said that you need to find what works for you, and this can be some trial and error. Everyone's body is different so it only makes sense some products will work for you and some will not.

Post workout I use a whey isolate.

I take muscle milk every day. I think if taste is something you really have to deal with, get muscle milk. I take it because it tastes good so i have no problem taking it like 3 or 4 times a day. I take one scoop with 2 cups of lowfat milk, so each time i take it i get like 40 carbs, around 40 grams of protein, and some fats. I don't buy the whole "no fats after you workout" thing. i'm gettin carbs and protein so i'm fine with that. ok i rambled on, but basically take muscle milk if you have to have a good tasting shake.
