muscle milk vs ON gold whey

ok i'm sure this question has been asked about a million times. My local gym has muscle milk on sale till the end of the month. I recently started taking protein shakes after my workout cause my co worker gave me a week supply of these herbal life packets. So my main goal is to lose weight and I read that if you put on muscle you burn fat so my diet is pretty clean now and my workouts are getting better so I figured I would by some protein supplement. Now people say the muscle milk has to much fat in it but at the same time the local trainers say it will put on lean muscle. So i'm just a little confused on which one to spend my money on. Does anyone have any experience with either of these supplements

Muscle milk is junk. Complete garbage.

Get the ON Whey (I recommend Chocolate Mint ^_^), and make your own PWO drink by adding dextrose or similar simple sugar to it, in roughly a 2:1 ratio. Which you can get very very cheap just about anywhere, and not get jacked for by Cytosport. Also there won't be loads of unnecessary garbage like the fat and such in there, obviously (you do NOT want any appreciable quantity of fat in either your post workout drink or the real food meal following it).

So, 30g protein from whey, 60g carb from dextrose (this is a rough estimate, as you haven't given us any details re: your size and body composition). Slam this directly after your heavy strength training, wait an hour, eat a meal rich in complex carbs and lean protein, and be secure in the knowledge that you are doing everything right, post-workout wise.

hehe i did run a search on muscle milk in the forum and nothing came up so I just posted it. Would it be ok to take a protein shake like twice a day once after my work out in the morning then one around 5 pm while im at work till lunch break at like 7:30 p.m.

If it's just the protein, you can take it as much as you want, really. Aim for 1.5g protein per lb of body weight. But only add in the sugar (and you should!) directly after your workout.

I would go 100% with ON Whey and go with Mocha flavor. Maybe order the variety package and mess around with which flavor, you like the most. Definitely ON if you are trying to lose weight.

Muscle milk does have it's benefit in that it have more calorie which is good if you trying to gain a lot of weight / muscle. In all honesty, I am on ON Whey when I was mass building. Personally, I have to agree Muscle milk is junk. The trainer at the gym are employee who are trying to promote a product that the gym is trying to sell onto their customers.

Actually, to read the ingredients, Muscle Milk looks pretty good. It is higher in fat, but supposedly a type that isn't easily stored as fat, but instead is burned as fuel and spares muscle. Am wondering how many folks have actually tried it? The only bad thing I see is the price, which is a bit high. :)

it has 18g of fat, 8 of it saturated. That's never good for post workout. and there is no such thing as fat that isnt absorbed easily and is burned for energy.

I think I need to buy stock in the company that produces Muscle Milk.

Their marketing team is A+.

:angry3:

Like everybody else says Muscle Milk = no, although it does taste damn good.

ON is good stuff, I get Vanilla flavor which I mix with fruit juice (or dextrose) and creatine post workout to get some carbs in with my post workout drink (aids in getting the protein and creatine into the muscle) and mix with milk towards bed time, the casein proteins in milk slow the overall protein digestion and I am good until breakfast time.
Anyway I go with Vanilla because it give me the most mixing options.
