Here is a good article from a Toronto based trainer ( Craig Ballantyne ) talking to the Maples Leafs Conditioning Coach. Look for the questions......

- What about for the younger player, aged 14-18?

PlayYourGame.com - Interviewing the Leafs' Strength Coach

Also, this is something from Ballantyne that may give you some food for thought in helping you develop a workout plan suited to hockey.......

Also, talk to your parents and see if they will buy this paperback book for you - it's called " Complete Conditioning for Hockey " by Peter Twist. Twist was the Conditioning Coach of the Vancouver Canucks for 10 years. A great book !

But remember, at 14 you are still growing. Dont try too much too fast, you could seriously hurt yourself for the future.

how often should i do the excersises..

Not sure if you're playing AAA hockey or not, but I suspect you're playing at least 2 games a week and practicing at least twice a week as well.

So, if speed is your primary concern, pick 3-4 of the speed, agility quickness drills and do 2 - 4 sets of those 2 X a week on the days when you're not on the ice.

and when do i know when to stop?

Do it all season - why stop ?

i dont want to hurt my future :eek2::bncry:

Trust me - at 14, you can train hard for hockey and not hurt your future.

Look at John Tavares. He made the OHL at 14 - all while training hard during his early teens.

my friend had the exact same worry, he is 5 10 weighed about that and he plays hockey and wanted to hit people, so he got quickmass and started to work out. Quickmass is like a protein drink but not as much protein, just more sugars, it has about 1000/+ calories per serving. But if you want a workoutplan you can go to Bodybuilding.com - The Future Of Bodybuilding! Huge Bodybuilding Site. and look at the muscle groups and find what parts you want to work out. Work out at least 3 muscle groups in a day. With at least 2 sets, with at least 8 reps since you're new.
