Hey all.

I have begun eating muesli a few days a week, as it's very filling, healthy and tasty. The one I eat consists of oats, nuts and raisins I believe, and I eat it with milk. Now normally when I count up my calories for the day in my head, I try to over estimate, and I usually allow 200-250 for breakfast as for most cereals this is more than enough. But when I asked my mum she said she thought eating muesli with milk is like 400-500 calories! :eek2: When I heard this I thought it was crazy, is it true? I know breakfast is important, but to have that many in one meal when you could just eat a lot of cereal for less, surely it's not logical? I cannot look on the packet now as I do not have it available to me.

Thanks

-RJ

lists a cup of muesli at about 289 calories - adding i the milk could bring it to about 400 - which isn't unreasonable for breakfast...

yeah, i used to think that I was being so healthy eating granola with fat free yogurt....then I saw the calories. Its like 800 for a cup. :(

Hmmm 289 for 80g, I wonder how much I'm eating? :jump: On cereal they always refer to 30g portion when talking about the nutritional information of each bowl, so either 30g is hardly anything or I'm eating about 50. I don't have a huge bowl, but a reasonable bowl. I guess I'll try to not eat the full bowl if so.

that was for one cup - you might want to consider measuring your portions -eyeballing stuff isn't as easy as you think.

A set of scales works well, I tend to measure my oats/turkey/etc. since I'm really poor with estimating.
