Mucho Sweato

I'm putting this in the running category, but realistically it's not exclusively a running issue. The issue is that whenever I exercise I sweat - A LOT. And it doesn't seem to be connected to my fitness level - at first I thought it was just because I was heinously unfit, but if anything, it's gotten worse as my fitness has increased. After running for about 5 minutes, I'm already building up a healthy sweat, even though I'm far from tired. When riding my bike, 2 minutes up a good hill will see sweat dripping down my face from beyond my helmet line.

Now, to me it's not abnormal, nor does it bother me - however, I thought I'd post here to see what anyone has to say about it. Is your level of sweat affected by your fitness level? Is it unusual to sweat a great amount during and after an exercise, to the point where it's dripping down your face?

It depends on a lot of things like the weather. I am like you I sweat at the drop of a hat. My mates called me instant swim for a while and said that it was all the mc donalds I was eating leaking out of my skin. (thats not possible by the way) I dont care and I dont know if it is related to a level of fitness.

I doubt it is though because it is a physiological response to temperature increase. But if you are unfit then you heat up quicker.

Geez im just gonna stop im confusing myself.

Personally I have this same problem and I consider myself to be very fit.
People do have different sweating patterns, some of it an inherited tendency, and some of it related to hormonal or metabolic factors, or possibly medication side effect.
The amount of sweating you do is not a bad thing, mostly inconvenient and can result in dehydration if you don't replenish your fluids and electrolytes, so make sure you are taking in plenty of fluids during and after your exercise.

Maybe??????

This is not a totally unusual response. The biggest concern would be the dehydration that could result. I would not worry to much about it. Do you usually exercise during a hot time of the day. If so you might want to wait until later in the evening or early morning. One thing that you might try is a different warm up. Try to go really easy for a few minutes before you start your main exercise. Then stretch for 5-10 minutes and drink a little water or sports drink. Then start your regular exercise this might help prolong the sweating a little and help you stay hydrated.

I think it may be genetic. I sweat a lot too; my dad does too; and my grandmother on my dad's side. I sweat just starting something, for example: building equipment, carrying things around, and just starting a run. I'm at a pretty high "fitness level," but the problem is still there. I've read that once you increase your cardio etc. the amount that you sweat should decrease, but I haven't noticed it.
