MP3Sugar.com

what it is? I like the name.

Yeah, looks like AllofMP3.com. I used them for a while and then realized, it's the worst of both worlds:

- it's still not legit, namely no one's getting paid
- BUT I'm still paying

So I moved onto either just buying the album or <cough> not buying the album. Not much in between.

I use bitorrent or a program called soulseek.

You're not going to rat me out to the RIAA are you? Nahhh you're not. Lawls, but yeah. It's almost impossible to trace torrents.

It's a file sharing protocol. So any file can be shared and downloaded bittorrent. You need a bittorrent client (but they're everywhere and free) which is what soulseek is (i assume). Some clients you can search directly through and sometimes you can find the files on a site, such as piratebay. If you click on a file from a site, the client will open and download the file. I just use the plain bittorrent client from bittorrent.com. Bittorrent itself is fully legal. You can get details at wikipedia:

BitTorrent - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Soulseek is a peer to peer client, and it rocks. You can find a lot on SLSK. I usually go to slsk to find my music because, like smith said, it's hard to find more obscure music torrents. And sometimes I just want a sample or song, not the whole album and every album they ever made or were ever featured on.

I use torrents to download big files. The client I use is BitComet, which I think is pretty sweet, but I haven't used the others.
