I am looking into getting one for working out...I was just wondering if anyone could help me find a good one under $100. Tell me some good models or some nice features...please help!

i like iRiver ... good quality sound and many different models to chose from

It kind of depends on what you want to use it for, if your going to be jogging down the road then you'll want a solid state memory system like the stick memory, but if you get this then youll only be able to have like 20-40 songs depending on how much memory the unit has. But if your not going to be jogging or doing things that jostle around a bunch then the way to go would definitely be a hard drive unit with more than 4 gigs of hard drive space. I have a NOMAD Muvo2 and it has excellent sound quality and very nice features, its definitely not under 100$ though. Another one I have is an RCA LYRA, I would not recommend it unless you get a memory stick, only 20 songs really sucks. but it was cheap though and I received it as a gift. No really good features that stand out above the rest.

I'm looking to use it at the gym. Like to walk on the treadmill, ride bike, use elliptical and crosstrainer, and for weight training.

I was looking at this one

How does it sound to you guys?

looks fine to me, I would recommend shopping around though and I would recommend getting more memory for it, 20 songs seems like it would be okay but it get's kind of boring with the same stuff lol. I guess you could just put different songs in every once in a while though..............

In less than 30 seconds I found it 20 bucks cheaper lol. Every time you get something online shop around first. Well thats the link to it anyways, not sure if you wanted to order online but good luck, Mp3's are awesome!

for stuff like jogging where it's going to be bouncing around a lot, i would only go with quality name brands ... i would try to find cheap deals with no-names.

Anyone ever buy one on e-bay or heard of someone buying a MP3 player from EBay. I'm thinking of buying one from there if I don't get one for my birthday...

i got an iRiver one...i love it. i just have to wear a shirt that has pocket on left side tho otherwise it jumps around like crazy when i am exercising. lol and i have to hold my chest if i run on treadmill or it will jump out of my pocket.

i either put the iRiver in the cup holder on the elliptical or attach it to the rail on the treadmill ... the only time i have it around my neck is on the bike.
As for ebay, I haven't personally, but i know a friend who has and was happy with her purchase ... i've purchased other things from there and it's gone well 95% of the time ... and the other 5% i got my money back without a hastle ... the person was selling a product that he didn't even have in stock.

guess the "in pocket" habit started in spring of 04 when i started walking outside. im only using the treadmill now cuz its winter

will be glad when spring is here, i feel like i get better workout outside.

If you own an Mp3 player with a hard drive I would try to be somewhat careful, if they get jostled around the hard drive will cease to work and nobody wants that now do they.

I ordered an MP3 player from Ebay. I got a RIO S35S. It's practical for me and I love it. It's sports geared, so it can take the bouncing and things like that. I really like it and had no problems via Ebay. It's definitely under $100. Brand new with the accessories it was $74. (battery,

The only thing I'd say about buying it on Ebay, is make sure you read the auction. Some are brand new, some used, some refurbished. I bought the brand new one because I just didn't trust the others. :) Anyway I trust Ebay just as much as any other place really and have had good experiences with them many times.

an iPod shuffle might be good for you, not sure about the price over there but here they are $145 or something I think. You can fit approx. 300 songs, and they are really small.

I have a regular iPod and I use it all of the time at the gym---on the elliptical, walking, etc. I've had it for about 2 years and I still absolutely LOVE it. Its pretty hardy, so it being jostled around hasn't been a problem for me at all. I just sit it on the top of the elliptical where you can put your water bottle, etc. and get to work!

there is nothing like having such a wide range of music to listen to when you are working out!

:D
