My program doesn't specify that it needs to be light or low-fat so I just buy normal. Have I made a mistake?

mozarella

Hi
My consultant has hand-written "whole" next to the mozarella on my program. I assumed that it meant not grated, and that I could use the normal Mozarella.
The only thing that mentions low-fat is the cottage cheese. Guess I'll be calling the clinic tomorrow!!!!

The only mozzerella that I have seen in the light version is grated. I was specifically told NOT to buy the grated version as it has some sort of flour added to keep the cheese apart.

Normal is what you're supposed to be using.

I did buy light, but then I asked whether we were supposed to be buying light and was told that the 'regulation' said 'normal' but Sue did check for me and Light was OK (we can get light in the block version here). But she said it was fine to use standard.

I found the light lacking in flavour, so I'm sticking with normal.

asy :D

It doesnt need to be light, but dont buy grated. Grated also has more lactose in it. I didnt realize that about the flour, and I have notice a powdery consistency in grated mozarella so I guess thats what it is.

Damn, thought I was doing the right thing getting the light, the only one I could find was the grated, guess I'm ducking into the supermarket this morning before work.

Wow.....thanks for the info ive been using grated the whole time I didnt realise there was a difference! but when I originally did the program my consultant told me to use full fat but never mentioned about the block not the grated!

I've looked closely at my cheese packet and it says 'Mozarella STYLE cheese'. Does that sounds dodgy to anyone else? do you think it's allowed??

Thanks girls for this post. I have been using the grated light cheese three times a week and felt very hungry after a couple of hours, (its probably the flour in it).

I bought the Perfect Italiono sliced "mozarella style" cheese and had it for breakfast this morning, it was so yummy. Now that I look closely at the pack I don't really think it is mozarella cheese, its more like a tasty cheese.

Hello

I'm confused so the cheese we can have is block normal mozerrela cheese. i bought the low fat grated and it was horrible, i'll have a look at the suopermarket today.

thanks guys.

Hi
I was reading just yesterday a book called The Power of Protein and it said you should eat full fat Mozzarella as the light one has more carbohydrate in it. I use the Perfect Italian round ball mozzarella...yummy....but you are talking to a person with italian background.:)

ok I rang the clinic today and they said dr cohen recommends the light version of anything if you can get it but don't use the grated. I could only find the full fat in a block form or a pear shape thing, gonna have it for breaky tomorrow, hope it is nice. I hate yukky meals.

wow karol i just saw you had 1 kilo to go. WAY TO GO... WAHOOOOO I'm very happy for you,
Dianne

Di78 how was the Mozzarella? i love it! really nice with a salsa/salad made out of tomato, green pepper, chopped baby spinach with basil & oregano & a bit of Balsmic vinigar and cracked black pepper! YUMMO!!!

Hello

Well I like it cold but not melted, I probably love the regular chedder sheese to much and have been spoilt for many years, but it's alot nicer than the grated low fat kind.
